About the role
You will lead a high-impact team of engineers dedicated to the end-to-end quality of our hyperscale hardware in a fast-paced tech environment. You serve as a technical navigator guiding your team through the complexities of New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining production to ensure manufacturing excellence scales with growth. By overseeing resource allocation and operational policies across PCBA subassembly and system integration, you directly safeguard the reliability of products reaching global customers. You will act as a pivotal bridge between engineering, supply chain, and global manufacturing partners to maintain a zero-defect culture. This role demands innovative thinking to reshape data storage infrastructure while fostering long-term technical ownership. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives that embed quality into every phase of the product lifecycle. Your leadership will ensure that strategic quality objectives are met without compromising operational efficiency or scalability.

What you'll do
- Drive operational excellence by managing department results including costs, methods, and staffing while establishing procedures that align team performance with hyperscale requirements and organizational goals.
- Champion product integrity by owning the end-to-end product quality lifecycle through establishing manufacturing standards and driving continuous improvements from initial design through field performance.
- Lead technical problem solving by coordinating comprehensive failure analyses with global OEM/JDM partners, implementing swift corrective actions for complex technical hurdles to prevent recurrence and minimize cost impact.
- Influence design and strategy by overseeing Design for Excellence (DFx) activities to ensure quality and reliability are baked into the hardware before high-volume production begins.
- Foster technical leadership by supporting the career development and performance of Product Quality Engineers, cultivating a culture of accountability and technical excellence across the organization.
- Translate ambiguous manufacturing challenges into prioritized plans using analytical clarity to protect organizational goals and minimize financial risk.
- Simplify complex data into actionable insights through purposeful communication tailored for diverse audiences, from production teams to executive leadership.
- Ensure strict compliance with quality management systems for PCBA, system-level testing, and lifecycle tools to uphold the highest standards of reliability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with global partners to remove blockers and maintain rigorous quality standards across the entire supply chain.
- Optimize production workflows to support scalability while maintaining zero-defect expectations across subassembly and integration phases.
- Monitor field performance metrics to identify trends and drive root-cause analysis that informs future hardware iterations.
- Establish preventive maintenance and testing protocols that reduce downtime and enhance product longevity for customers worldwide.
Requirements
- Demonstrate strategic leadership with proven ability to manage technical teams and department operations within high-tech manufacturing or product engineering environments.
- Exhibit technical mastery in production quality management systems including PCBA, system-level validation, and test methodologies to drive data-backed quality decisions.
- Show a strong track record of cross-functional collaboration influencing global partners and internal stakeholders to uphold rigorous quality standards.
- Possess analytical clarity to simplify ambiguous, complex manufacturing challenges into prioritized actionable plans.
- Communicate with exceptional skill translating complex technical data into insights accessible to production teams and executive leadership.
- Thrive in an in-office environment based in Santa Clara, working in compliance with company policies unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
- Apply deep expertise in failure analysis techniques to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions across hardware platforms.
- Leverage lifecycle management tools to ensure quality consistency from initial prototype through full-scale production and field deployment.
