Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and test firmware for our DirectFlash™ SSD Modules, leveraging your expertise in C/C++ to build robust, high-performance solutions.
- Lead the bring-up and integration of new hardware components, developing low-level firmware features to enable next-generation storage products.
- Investigate and debug complex firmware and hardware issues, creating advanced failure analysis tools and processes to ensure product reliability.
- Automate internal development workflows, including continuous integration and automated testing, to accelerate our engineering and release cycles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define firmware requirements, align with product roadmaps, and support system-level validation.
- Optimize firmware for performance, stability, and scalability to meet the demanding needs of enterprise storage environments.
- Implement diagnostic and monitoring capabilities that provide insight into drive health, performance, and operational status.
- Support qualification and compliance activities, ensuring firmware deliverables meet industry standards and internal quality criteria.
- Document firmware architecture, interfaces, and procedures to enable knowledge sharing and smooth handovers.
- Drive continuous improvement by refining development processes, tools, and practices across the firmware stack.
- Partner with software engineers to deliver integrated solutions that maximize the potential of our storage modules.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance, code reviews, and technical leadership within the firmware domain.
- Explore emerging storage technologies and evaluate new methods to enhance reliability, latency, and endurance.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation by proposing creative solutions and challenging existing assumptions about data storage.
Requirements
- You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- You possess a strong foundation in firmware development for embedded systems, with a deep understanding of hardware and software interactions.
- You demonstrate proficiency in C/C++ and experience with scripting languages like Python for testing, automation, and tooling.
- You have hands-on experience with embedded software or firmware, including microcontrollers and hardware bring-up.
- You have a proven ability to debug complex issues and develop effective tools for failure analysis.
- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative development environment with evolving requirements.
- You can communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with engineers across disciplines in a team-based setting.
- You are expected to work from the Taiwan office in compliance with company policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
Nice to have
- Experience with NAND flash memory, SSD controllers, or storage protocol interfaces such as NVMe.
- Familiarity with hardware description languages or FPGA-based prototyping.
- Contributions to open-source storage or firmware projects.
- Background in high-reliability or safety-critical storage systems.

- This role is based in Taipei City, Taiwan.
- You are expected to work from the Taiwan office in compliance with Pure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
