Member of Technical Staff, Backend Engineering Lead
Job description
About the role
Everpure is actively reshaping the data storage industry through innovative thinking, and this role represents a pivotal opportunity to grow alongside our team and contribute to work that changes the world. As a Member of Technical Staff, Backend Engineering Lead, you will be instrumental in defining how next-generation storage solutions evolve in a fast-paced environment. This position grants you ownership over critical architectural decisions that directly influence the reliability and scalability of our platforms. You will act as a technical leader, guiding complex initiatives from conception to completion while fostering a culture of engineering excellence within the Portworx team at Everpure. Your work will directly impact the scalability and performance of data platforms used by demanding enterprise customers, leaving a lasting mark on our technological trajectory.
Key facts
What you'll do
Your responsibilities will center on architecting cloud-native microservices that integrate new features into Portworx data platforms. You will design, implement, and maintain unit and functional tests to validate core functionality and prevent regressions in production environments. Documenting workflows and system interactions will be a core responsibility to ensure scalable delivery cycles and clear knowledge transfer. You will leverage AI tooling to isolate faults and resolve performance issues within large-scale distributed clusters, turning data into actionable insights. You will steer solutions from initial whiteboard sketches to production deployment in partnership with business stakeholders and product owners, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Service designs will be adapted iteratively based on customer findings discovered during system and field testing. You will experiment with emerging tools and methodologies to advance current storage capabilities beyond existing technological limits. Attendance at mandatory office hours in Bangalore is required as policy dictates, unless you are on leave or engaged in travel for company purposes. You will champion rigorous code reviews that improve reliability, security, and operational stability across distributed deployments, setting the standard for quality across the team.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you must hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minimum of seven years of experience in design and implementation of software systems. You are expected to debug complex issues across public and private cloud environments while navigating vague and ambiguous requirements from internal and external stakeholders. Your expertise should include designing services that scale efficiently across thousands of nodes within highly available distributed system architectures. Collaboration is central to this position; you will work closely with product teams and beta partners to define highly scalable and production-quality software solutions. A solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and fundamental software design principles is essential to guide robust implementations. You must be able to work effectively within open office environments while respecting team-driven cultures and diverse working styles. Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end delivery for assigned projects is required, balancing trade-offs between speed, quality, and maintainability. Clear communication of technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences during planning and review sessions is a key component of success in this role.
Nice to have
Experience with storage systems, distributed computing, and cloud-native architectures is strongly preferred. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and automated testing frameworks is valued for enhancing productivity. A background in contributing to open-source projects or publishing technical content is regarded as a beneficial trait that aligns with our commitment to industry advancement.
Practical notes
