The Work
The Director of Portfolio Management & Partnerships for PCMC holds end-to-end profit and loss responsibility for the credit card portfolio. This position is responsible for defining the strategic vision and associated roadmap for feature development. The primary goals are to grow purchase volume and account receivables, increase customer engagement, and ensure compliance and resiliency for all key business processes. These processes directly influence or enhance the customer experience. The role reports to the Vice President of Payments Products and is responsible for building and maintaining critical strategic relationships. Success requires operating within established risk tolerance and leading a team of professionals to achieve key business objectives.
As a leader within the business, this position is instrumental in driving organizational change. The director will establish new patterns of cross-functional collaboration to maintain rigorous product management discipline across the company.
Key Accountabilities
Formulating the product vision for credit card features to ensure sustained growth in volume and receivables over time.
Designing structured intake workflows to guarantee that data from merchants and partners enters a clear, compliant pathway for analysis.
Building and maintaining a detailed product roadmap that aligns engineering capacity with risk tolerance and customer engagement targets.
Reviewing performance metrics and analyzing customer behavior to refine existing features and eliminate barriers in the user journey.
Shipping iterative software releases that preserve the reliability of the credit card experience while adhering to all compliance standards.
Partnering with risk, legal, and operations teams to uphold resilient processes that protect both customers and the business.
Establishing new collaboration patterns that effectively connect product, engineering, and operations functions throughout the organization.
Leading a team of professionals through coaching and clear communication to ensure the successful achievement of portfolio business objectives.
Requirements
Candidates must bring three to five years of experience managing portfolios within financial services or other complex domains.
A minimum of three to five years of hands-on experience with credit cards, lending products, or payment systems is required.
A strong understanding of how financial regulations impact product decisions and the ability to translate these regulations into practical roadmaps is essential.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary to align diverse stakeholders and simplify complex concepts.
Demonstrated experience using JIRA, Confluence, and analytics tools to track and measure product performance is required.
Comfort working with payment networks, system integrations, and API-driven services within a banking environment is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a challenger bank or a digital-first financial services environment is highly valued.
Knowledge of EQ's specific PCMC products and the landscape of Canadian credit card regulations is considered a significant advantage.
Skills and Tools
Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, analytics platforms, and common banking systems is essential for success in this role.
