About the Role

The Associate Director, QA serves as the testing leader responsible for shaping the quality landscape for Eqbank's digital ecosystem. This position requires a balance of strategic governance and deep technical involvement. The role focuses on designing robust testing frameworks that cover complex applications, intricate backend systems, and critical data stores. You will guide the quality direction for the entire product lifecycle, ensuring testing practices evolve to meet emerging challenges in the financial sector. The position demands a thorough understanding of how software components interact and how to validate that interaction effectively. You will translate high-level business requirements into concrete, testable criteria that guarantee reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Define Testing Strategy: Establish the comprehensive testing direction for applications, systems, and databases. This involves creating a cohesive vision that ensures all testing activities are aligned with business objectives and technical architecture.
• Lead Automation Initiatives: Drive the end-to-end automation strategy across complex financial systems. This includes identifying automation opportunities, prioritizing efforts, and ensuring the automation suite provides maximum coverage and return on investment.
• Oversee Database Validation: Utilize SQL as a primary tool to confirm data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all storage layers. You will design and oversee tests that validate database transactions, data migration, and backend logic under diverse scenarios.
• Manage System Testing: Direct efforts in systems testing to validate end-to-end business flows across integrated platforms. This ensures that components communicate correctly and function as a unified system, particularly under load and stress conditions.
• Build and Mentor Teams: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a high-performing team of Quality Assurance Analysts. You will be responsible for talent development, performance management, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Establish Quality Frameworks: Create and enforce quality assurance best practices, standards, and processes. This includes developing testing methodologies, documentation standards, and review routines that ensure the durability and maintainability of test artifacts.
• Optimize Testing Workflows: Design and refine intake procedures that validate test coverage for every new digital request. You will ensure that build workflows are orchestrated efficiently, aligning SQL checks with system behavior to catch defects early.
• Ensure Release Readiness: Coordinate activities related to software releases, ensuring they adhere to strict quality gates and timelines. This involves final evaluation routines that verify data accuracy and interface reliability before deployment to production.
• Foster Collaboration: Forge strong partnerships with technology teams, product owners, and developers. You will work to define shared standards for durable automation, promoting a quality mindset across the entire organization.

Requirements

• Leadership Experience: A minimum of five years of experience overseeing quality teams, specifically within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated environments.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to apply SQL for data validation and to verify outcomes across complex storage layers. This is a core technical requirement for the role.
• Systems Expertise: Proven capability to evaluate intricate systems and ensure that various components interact correctly under various conditions, including peak load.
• Framework Development: Experience in establishing robust frameworks and methodologies that enable consistent and scalable automation across multiple, diverse applications.
