What you'll do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients seeking assistance with health insurance options, providing clear and concise information tailored to individual needs.
- Conduct one-on-one consultations with clients to assess their healthcare requirements and guide them through the enrollment process.
- Educate clients about various health insurance plans, including benefits, coverage options, and costs, ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding of their choices.
- Assist clients in completing necessary paperwork and applications for health insurance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide ongoing support to clients post-enrollment, addressing any questions or concerns they may have regarding their health insurance coverage.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to stay updated on the latest offerings and changes in health insurance policies.
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions and enrollment processes in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about health insurance options and resources available to the public.
- Stay informed about changes in healthcare laws and regulations that may impact clients' insurance options and coverage.
- Work closely with a team of Navigators and other healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to client support and education.
- Utilize technology and software tools to streamline the enrollment process and enhance client communication.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to continuously improve your knowledge and skills in health insurance navigation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as healthcare, social work, or public health.
- At least 2 years of experience in a customer service or healthcare-related role, preferably involving health insurance navigation.
- Strong understanding of health insurance concepts, including different types of plans and coverage options.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and approachable manner.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competency.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple client cases simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using technology and software applications relevant to client management and enrollment processes.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in healthcare.
Nice to have
- Certification as a Health Insurance Navigator or similar credential.
- Experience working with underserved populations or in community health settings.
- Familiarity with local healthcare resources and services available to clients.
- Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
- Previous experience in outreach or educational roles within the healthcare sector.
