About the role
The hire will lead all public sector and government affairs initiatives for ElevenLabs across India, acting as the primary strategic interface with policymakers and regulatory bodies. This role owns the development and execution of strategies that shape public policy discussions to favor responsible AI innovation and adoption. The individual will represent ElevenLabs in high-level dialogues concerning AI governance, safety standards, data protection, privacy, and digital rights within the Indian context. They will translate complex regulatory landscapes into actionable insights for the business and provide clear strategic counsel to executive leadership. The role further involves promoting the adoption of ElevenLabs products and services across government agencies in partnership with the go-to-market team. Finally, the hire will define, drive, and implement targeted policy campaigns and impact initiatives that advance the company's strategic objectives in the public sector.
Key facts
What you'll do
Drive strategic engagement with central and state government bodies, departments, and public institutions across India concerning AI policy, regulation, and adoption.
Establish and cultivate high-level relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and relevant civil society groups to build trust and facilitate dialogue.
Monitor, analyze, and interpret emerging regulatory developments, policy drafts, and legislative proposals affecting AI in India and advise the organization on compliance and strategic positioning.
Represent ElevenLabs at government hearings, industry conferences, public forums, and stakeholder meetings to articulate the company's position and policy priorities.
Collaborate with internal teams including Legal, Safety, Security, and Product to develop and submit formal comments, position papers, and policy recommendations on relevant legislation.
Provide concise, strategic counsel to senior leadership on public policy trends, government strategies, and their potential business implications for the Indian market and beyond.
Champion and advance government adoption of ElevenLabs products and services by identifying use cases, facilitating pilots, and supporting procurement processes in partnership with the GTM organization.
Define, design, and implement targeted public policy campaigns and impact initiatives aimed at shaping a favorable regulatory environment and achieving specific company objectives.
Serve as a subject matter expert on AI governance, safety, copyright, transparency, data protection, and digital rights in discussions with government stakeholders.
Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive policy intelligence database to track regulatory changes, stakeholder positions, and competitive landscapes relevant to public sector engagement.
Develop and deliver presentations, briefings, and policy memos tailored for government officials and regulators who may have varying levels of technical familiarity with AI technologies.
Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations with government agencies, research institutions, and industry consortia to further policy goals.
Ensure all public policy activities and advocacy efforts are aligned with the company's core values, ethical guidelines, and commitment to responsible AI innovation.
Contribute to the development and refinement of internal policies and procedures related to government engagement, working closely with Legal and Safety teams to ensure compliance.

Nice to have
Experience in public sector, government affairs, or policy advocacy within the technology sector, particularly in AI or related fields.
Prior experience engaging with regulatory bodies and government stakeholders in India or similar markets.
Understanding of AI governance frameworks, safety standards, and emerging regulatory approaches relevant to the region.
Knowledge of policy development processes and advocacy strategies within a corporate or governmental context.
Practical notes
This role may require travel within India for meetings, conferences, and events with stakeholders and officials.
