What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient distributed filesystem components that support our cloud data protection services.
• Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Implement testing frameworks to ensure the reliability and performance of the filesystem under various conditions.
• Optimize existing code and systems for improved performance and scalability, addressing any technical debt.
• Lead architectural discussions and contribute to the overall technical direction of the distributed filesystem.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on best practices in software development and system design.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and ensure adherence to company coding guidelines.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in distributed systems and cloud computing, integrating relevant advancements into our solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing timely solutions to maintain system integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure deployment and operation of the filesystem in production environments.
• Document design decisions, system architecture, and other relevant information to facilitate knowledge sharing across the team.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on distributed systems and filesystems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Go, with a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, particularly in services related to storage and data management.
• Strong understanding of distributed system principles, including consistency, availability, and partition tolerance.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing high-performance, scalable systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with file storage solutions like Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, or similar technologies.
