About the role
DriveWealth is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to lead the design and implementation of brokerage systems within our Post Trade team. You will drive the architecture of high-performance, low-latency platforms while mentoring engineering staff and collaborating with operations teams. In this capacity, you will own the technical vision for critical post-trade workflows, ensuring that systems meet the stringent demands of financial markets. You will act as a key contributor to strategic technology initiatives that directly impact the reliability and scalability of our brokerage infrastructure. The role requires a balance of hands-on coding and architectural oversight to solve complex problems in a regulated environment. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. Your decisions will shape the long-term direction of the platform and influence engineering best practices across the organization.

What you'll do
- Architect and deliver high-performance, low-latency brokerage systems using Java and Golang while optimizing for speed and stability.
- Maintain and develop REST APIs and microservices to ensure seamless communication between internal and external systems.
- Monitor software and database performance, implementing technical solutions to improve system health and reduce incident rates.
- Partner with Broker Dealer Operations to support trading and backend systems for equities, options, and mutual funds with precision and attention to compliance.
- Define technical specifications, manage test data, and modify existing software stacks to accommodate evolving business needs.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks to accelerate delivery and maintain high quality standards.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to both technical and non-technical staff through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
- Support system integration, troubleshooting, and scripting to resolve issues quickly and efficiently across distributed environments.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their applicability to post-trade systems, driving innovation where it matters most.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure all solutions adhere to industry regulations and internal governance policies.
- Analyze complex workflows and identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation and improved system design.
- Contribute to on-call rotations and incident response activities, ensuring timely resolution of production issues.
- Document system behavior and architectural decisions to support long-term maintenance and future scalability efforts.
- Engage in code implementation across multiple layers of the stack, from API design to database optimization and integration logic.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience that demonstrates a strong foundational knowledge of software engineering principles.
- Bring a minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in Java, including proficiency in core libraries, concurrency, and performance tuning.
- Maintain a professional background in capital markets or financial technology, with an understanding of industry-specific workflows and terminology.
- Demonstrate experience with 24x7, highly available architecture, including designing for fault tolerance, resilience, and rapid recovery.
- Show proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and stored procedures, with hands-on work in Postgres and MySQL for data modeling and query optimization.
- Utilize Unix/Linux scripting for data extraction and transformation, automating routine tasks and supporting operational needs.
- Possess hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including deployment, monitoring, and resource management.
- Demonstrate expertise in REST APIs, event-driven architectures, Kafka for streaming data, and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
- Master Test Driven Development practices, along with unit and integration testing, to ensure code quality and maintainability.
- Apply familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, Jira for issue tracking, Git for version control, and Jenkins for CI/CD automation.
- Exhibit strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to navigate ambiguity and deliver effective solutions under pressure.
- Have a proven track record of working effectively in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understand the importance of security, compliance, and data integrity in financial systems and implement practices accordingly.
- Be capable of mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical hiring decisions within the team.

- Multiple years of specific experience in fintech, particularly within post-trade, payments, or SaaS, with a demonstrated history of delivering scalable solutions.
