Discord is on the lookout for a Strategy & Operations Manager to lead initiatives related to pricing, monetization, and revenue operations for its consumer segment. This position will play a crucial role in shaping the analytical strategies for various offerings, including Nitro subscriptions, the Shop, Orbs, and rewards programs, all aimed at bolstering our global expansion efforts.

What you'll do
- Oversee the comprehensive semi-annual pricing cycle for Nitro, which includes determining tier structures, packaging options, and implementation strategies based on market elasticity and consumer willingness to pay.
- Develop innovative strategies for the Orbs virtual currency, focusing on bundle configurations, monitoring the health of the economy, and creating experimental promotional offers.
- Execute global pricing reviews to ensure adjustments are made in line with local purchasing power, currency variations, and risks associated with regional arbitrage.
- Analyze market trends to deliver insights on competitive pricing and positioning, ensuring Discord remains a leader in the consumer space.
- Generate dashboards and reports that track subscriber growth and monetization metrics, providing valuable insights to leadership teams.
- Support evaluations of third-party partnerships related to Nitro and manage operations related to deal desk activities.
- Create and maintain standardized playbooks and frameworks for monetization and pricing strategies to ensure consistency across the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on strategic initiatives and ensure effective execution of pricing and monetization strategies.
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making processes and optimize revenue-generating activities.
- Engage in continuous learning and adaptation of best practices in monetization and pricing strategies to keep pace with industry developments.
- Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation within the team to explore new monetization opportunities.
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in monetization, pricing strategies, or subscription growth, ideally within sectors such as marketplaces, virtual economies, or consumer subscription services.
- Strong quantitative analysis skills, including experience with growth modeling, A/B testing methodologies, and the ability to construct pricing models from partial data sets.
- Demonstrated capability to lead cross-departmental decision-making processes, collaborating effectively with teams in Finance, Product, Business Development, and Product Marketing.
- Experience managing the complexities associated with pricing across multiple regions and currencies, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment.
- Proficiency in business intelligence tools such as Looker or Tableau, enabling the creation of self-service reporting capabilities for stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights in an understandable manner to diverse audiences.

- Understanding of in-game economy design principles or virtual currency systems, which can enhance strategic decision-making.

Practical notes
- Compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $192,000 to $216,000 annually, supplemented by equity options and a comprehensive benefits package.
