About the role
This position is a 12 month maternity cover role within the Tech Foundations team. You will focus on building data pipelines and financial management tools to optimize cloud and AI resource usage for our global engineering organization. In this capacity, you will own the development of automated data workflows that provide transparency into our cloud and AI spend. You will act as a bridge between technical infrastructure and business finance by creating tools that track and manage costs across the company. Your work will directly influence how efficiently we utilize our cloud and AI resources on a global scale. You will be responsible for turning complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights. This role requires a strong sense of ownership over the reliability and accuracy of the data you deliver. You will contribute to defining the long-term data and software architecture with an eye toward scalability and performance.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop automated, high-quality data pipelines using terminal-first or IDE-based agentic tools to manage cloud, SaaS, and AI costs.
- Create generative analytics, business intelligence dashboards, and reporting solutions.
- Deploy AI and machine learning models for forecasting, anomaly detection, and identifying optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal users to provide support and ensure a high-quality data experience.
- Help define and evolve software and data architecture while accounting for non-functional requirements.
- Implement robust data cleaning processes to ensure the integrity and reliability of financial datasets.
- Provide excellent internal customer support to stakeholders across the engineering organization.
- Utilize strong SQL skills to perform complex ELT/ETL transformations for data modeling.
- Work with large datasets in cloud environments to build scalable and efficient data solutions.
- Maintain a curious mindset focused on experimentation and iterative learning to improve data processes.
- Leverage data visualization tools to create clear and insightful dashboards for business stakeholders.
- Contribute to the definition of FinOps practices and data metrics that drive cost optimization.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align data strategies with business objectives.
- Document data pipelines and processes to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Proven experience building data pipelines in cloud environments with large datasets.
- Strong SQL proficiency and language-agnostic coding skills for ELT/ETL transformations.
- Ability to perform data cleaning and provide excellent internal customer support.
- Strong communication skills with an interest in business impact and user needs.
- A curious mindset focused on experimentation and iterative learning.
- Experience working with financial or operational data is a strong advantage.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex data challenges.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and infrastructure is essential for this role.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies as needed.
- A strong attention to detail is required to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Commitment to following best practices in data engineering and software development.
- Understanding of data security and compliance considerations is important.
- You must be available to work 2 days per week from the Berlin campus as part of the hybrid model.
