Senior Product Manager, Analytics | Bengaluru, IN
Job description
About the role
You will define what "good analytics" means for the Degreed platform, shaping how admins and learners understand and act on learning impact. You will translate ambiguous stakeholder questions from CHROs, L&D leaders, and platform admins into clear product requirements and measurable outcomes. This role involves owning the end-to-end analytics roadmap, from data strategy through metric governance and dashboard delivery. You will partner deeply with data engineering and data science teams to ensure the underlying data model supports evolving customer questions. Your work will directly influence how customers perceive Degreed's maturity and value in proving workforce readiness. The position requires comfort with ambiguity and a commitment to turning learning data into trusted, actionable insight. You will leverage AI tools where appropriate to explore usage patterns, draft requirements, and accelerate prototyping of new analytics experiences.
Key facts
What you'll do
Define and evolve the analytics strategy for the Degreed platform, including the roadmap for in-product reporting and dashboarding capabilities.
Own the definition, naming, and calculation logic of core metrics so numbers remain consistent and trustworthy across every dashboard and report.
Partner with data engineering and data science to ensure data models, pipelines, and schema changes support current and future analytics requirements.
Translate ambiguous customer needs, sales feedback, and executive expectations into clear product requirements and well-scoped roadmap priorities.
Work with design partners to create data visualizations that are clear, trustworthy, and actionable rather than merely decorative charts.
Gather and synthesize input from customers, customer success, sales, and executive stakeholders to identify analytics gaps that matter most to the market.
Measure the adoption and business impact of analytics features you ship, then use that data to inform the next iteration of the roadmap and product improvements.
Build and maintain governance standards for metric definitions, data quality, and dashboard usability to reduce confusion and rework.
Write clear requirements, prioritize the analytics backlog, and collaborate with engineering to ship reporting features that are accurate, performant, and easy to use.
Leverage AI tools and technologies relevant to the role, such as using AI-assisted analysis to explore usage data, draft requirements, or accelerate dashboard prototyping.
Champion data literacy across the organization by helping stakeholders understand how to interpret reports and when a dashboard number should be questioned.
Establish best practices for embedded analytics and BI tooling, evaluating tradeoffs between build, buy, and embed decisions based on customer value and technical cost.
Serve as the primary analytics voice in cross-functional discussions, balancing competing demands from sales, customer success, engineering, and executive leadership.
Continuously monitor the health and usage of existing dashboards, identifying opportunities to improve clarity, performance, and insight depth.
Requirements
5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years focused on analytics, reporting, BI, or data products.
Proven ability to set and communicate a product strategy for analytics or reporting capabilities, not just ship individual features.
Strong grasp of data modeling concepts and comfort working directly with data engineers and data scientists on schema, metrics definitions, and data pipelines.
Experience with embedded analytics or BI tooling (GoodData a plus) and the tradeoffs between build, buy, and embed.
Ability to translate ambiguous customer and stakeholder needs (from CHROs, L&D leaders, and platform admins) into clear requirements and well-scoped roadmap bets.
Comfort defining and governing metrics: naming conventions, calculation logic, and data definitions that stay consistent across dashboards and reports.
Strong data literacy: able to read a dataset, sanity-check a query, and know when a dashboard number looks wrong before a customer does.
Experience partnering with design on data visualization best practices, not just feature layout.
Track record of prioritizing a roadmap against competing demands from sales, customer success, engineering, and executive stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytics tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to leverage AI tools and technologies relevant to the role, such as using AI-assisted analysis to explore usage data, draft requirements, or accelerate dashboard prototyping.
Nice to have
Experience in HR tech, learning tech, or another people-analytics adjacent space.
Familiarity with SQL and the ability to write or debug queries independently.
