D2l is seeking a Salesforce Developer to join their growing team in Kitchener, Ontario. This role focuses on building and maintaining Salesforce-based solutions that support business operations and drive organizational efficiency across multiple departments. Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop custom Salesforce applications using Apex and Visualforce to meet specific business requirements and workflows
- Design and implement scalable data models, automated workflows, and process automation within the Salesforce environment
- Write and maintain Apex triggers, classes, and batch processes that support complex system integrations
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather functional requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
- Perform thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to Salesforce development standards and organizational best practices
- Configure and customize Salesforce objects, fields, validation rules, and page layouts to support end user needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects in existing Salesforce functionality and third-party system integrations promptly
- Create and manage Salesforce reports and dashboards to provide meaningful organizational visibility and insights
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle from initial planning through testing and production deployment
- Document technical designs, configuration changes, and standard operating procedures for future reference and team handoffs
- Support the migration and upgrade of Salesforce environments to newer releases and features
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the engineering team
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend Salesforce enhancements to increase productivity
- Collaborate with QA teams to ensure code quality and thorough testing of all Salesforce changes
Requirements
- Proven experience developing on the Salesforce platform using Apex and Visualforce for custom applications
- Strong understanding of Salesforce data modeling, object relationships, and governor limits in production environments
- Experience with Salesforce integrations using REST or SOAP APIs to connect external systems
- Familiarity with Salesforce deployment tools such as Change Sets or Copado for release management
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and modern software development practices and methodologies
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with cross-functional business stakeholders
- Experience with Salesforce testing frameworks and writing comprehensive unit tests for Apex code
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with Salesforce Experience Cloud or Community Cloud for customer-facing portals
- Understanding of Salesforce security best practices including sharing rules and permission sets
Nice to have
- Experience with Salesforce Lightning components and Lightning Web Components for building modern user interfaces
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for automated Salesforce deployments and release management
- Knowledge of third-party integration platforms and middleware tools for enterprise data synchronization needs
- Salesforce Platform Developer I or II certification demonstrates advanced platform knowledge and professional commitment
- Exposure to Salesforce AppExchange products and managed packages for extending platform capabilities
- Understanding of data migration strategies and tools for moving data between systems
