About the role
Cursor is building advanced tools to automate software development through a mix of research and engineering. We are looking for a Field Engineer in India to guide enterprise clients through the adoption of our platform. You will serve as the primary technical point of contact, ensuring our users get the most out of our AI-driven coding environment. In this capacity, you will act as a bridge between our product ambitions and real-world customer needs. The role requires you to own the technical narrative of our platform from initial contact through long-term adoption. You will be responsible for validating that our solutions solve acute development challenges in live environments. This position demands comfort with ambiguity and the ability to translate high-level product vision into actionable implementation steps. Your work will directly influence product direction and customer trust in our market.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead technical discovery sessions, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept projects alongside Account Executives to uncover precise client requirements.
- Act as a technical consultant for engineering managers, architects, and developers, translating complex concepts into clear, actionable guidance.
- Design implementation strategies for customers, including guidance on prompt engineering, system configuration, and rollout best practices tailored to their constraints.
- Run workshops, whiteboard sessions, and presentations customized for specific client needs, ensuring stakeholders understand the value and mechanics of our tools.
- Represent the voice of the customer within our internal Product and Engineering teams to help shape the future of our roadmap based on observed usage patterns.
- Coordinate with post-sales staff to facilitate successful onboarding and account transitions, ensuring technical and operational continuity.
- Stay informed on the competitive landscape to articulate the unique value of our platform and differentiate our capabilities in crowded market discussions.
- Assist in strategic account planning by providing technical validation for expansion efforts, identifying new use cases and adoption barriers.
- Conduct hands-on debugging of integration issues within complex development environments to unblock customer workflows and maintain momentum.
- Document technical workflows and configurations to create reusable playbooks that improve the scalability of our engagement model.
Requirements
- Proven background in Field Engineering, Pre-Sales, Solutions Architecture, or enterprise software consulting with a track record of driving technical adoption.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both individual developers and executive leadership like CTOs, adjusting tone and detail for the audience.
- Practical technical proficiency with the ability to navigate complex environments, debug issues, and understand AI tools at a level that inspires customer confidence.
- Deep knowledge of software development lifecycles and the common productivity hurdles faced by engineering teams, enabling you to pinpoint where our platform can help.
- Startup mindset characterized by high adaptability, resourcefulness, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, especially when facing incomplete information or shifting priorities.
- Strong focus on customer success with the ability to connect technical features to business outcomes, demonstrating clear ROI in measurable terms.
- Experience working in fast-paced, goal-oriented environments where ownership of ambiguous problems is expected and rewarded.
- Willingness to travel regionally within India for client engagements, understanding that face-to-face interaction can accelerate trust and alignment.

Practical notes
This role is full-time and based in India, requiring reliable local connectivity and the flexibility to manage time across overlapping global business hours. You should be prepared for occasional travel within India for on-site client workshops, meetings, and discovery sessions. The position reports to the Solutions team and is part of a broader effort to scale customer adoption of our platform. There may be short-notice travel or after-hours support during critical onboarding or deployment phases. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship, so candidates must already have the right to work in India.
