About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Field Engineer to work directly with prospective and strategic enterprise clients within the Life Sciences sector. This on-site role involves representing Cursor as the technical face of our organization, supporting scientific organizations in integrating our innovative tools into their workflows. You will be responsible for engaging with scientific teams, researchers, and commercial units to demonstrate our solutions, validate technical capabilities, and ensure clients see the full value of agentic coding in their research and development processes. Your work will involve collaborating closely with sales, product, and engineering teams, acting as a trusted technical advisor, and helping clients accelerate their R&D cycles by connecting Cursor's technology to their specific outcomes. This position is critical in fostering adoption and influencing product direction through deep technical engagement and customer advocacy.

What you'll do

• Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery sessions, deliver tailored demonstrations, and develop proofs of concept that validate Cursor's capabilities in real-world research environments
• Collaborate with clients to build and nurture trusted relationships across various technical stakeholders, including engineering teams, scientific computing units, R&D departments, and commercial IT teams
• Engage deeply in research-heavy and regulated environments, understanding complex developer workflows, AI tooling, and system setups to tailor solutions effectively
• Assist customers in connecting Cursor's solutions to tangible outcomes such as faster R&D cycles, streamlined workflows, and a shorter path from lab to market
• Deliver technical presentations, whiteboard sessions, and workshops designed for scientific and commercial audiences, clearly articulating the value and technical details of Cursor's offerings
• Act as the customer's internal technical advocate, providing feedback to Product and Engineering teams to influence product development and enhancements based on customer needs and insights
• Work closely with post-sales teams to ensure smooth handoffs, proper onboarding, and setup for ongoing success in deploying Cursor's solutions within customer environments
• Stay informed about Cursor's latest features, updates, and the competitive landscape to effectively position our solutions and articulate our unique value proposition in customer discussions
• Support the development of technical content, including documentation and case studies, that showcase successful implementations and best practices
• Participate in industry events, conferences, and customer visits to promote Cursor's technology and deepen relationships within the Life Sciences community
• Maintain a high level of technical fluency across the product suite and emerging trends in AI, scientific computing, and regulated research environments to serve as a credible expert during customer engagements

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, from developers to CTOs and scientific leaders
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and the ability to connect technical details to business and scientific impacts
• Hands-on technical fluency in workflows, AI tooling, and complex research environments, with experience in developer workflows and AI integration (note: not necessarily full-time engineering experience)
• Proven experience in co-owning technical solutions with sales teams, managing stakeholder relationships, and navigating complex organizational structures
• Customer-obsessed mindset with the ability to translate technical features into organizational value and benefits
• Background in Field Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Pre-Sales, Consulting, or similar roles involving technical customer engagement
• Interest in Life Sciences and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to regulated, research-heavy organizational environments
• Motivated by the goal of leveraging AI to accelerate scientific research and benefit humanity
• Ability to work on-site in the specified location, with no remote or hybrid options unless explicitly stated in the SOURCE

Nice to have

• Experience working within regulated or research-heavy environments, understanding compliance and data security considerations
• Familiarity with scientific computing tools, R&D workflows, and laboratory environments
• Prior exposure to enterprise software solutions tailored for the Life Sciences sector
• Knowledge of ITAR regulations or other compliance standards relevant to scientific and research organizations
• Experience in technical consulting, solutions architecture, or pre-sales roles within technology companies serving the Life Sciences industry
