What you'll do

Lead and supervise the regional plan check group ensuring a timely review of construction plans for compliance with building codes, local ordinances, and safety regulations.

Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to the plan check team to maintain high standards of work.

Stay updated and guide the team on changes to local, state, and federal building codes, and standards.

Serve as the subject matter expert on regulatory requirements, providing guidance to both internal teams and clients on code-related issues, technical standards, and code interpretations.

Serve as a point of contact between clients and CSG ensuring that the plan review process is efficient, minimizing delays while maintaining a high standard of quality and compliance.

Collaborate with City officials, developers, architects, and engineers to facilitate the plan review process, providing clear communication and updates on project status.

Represent the department at various internal and external meetings, local chapter meetings, and industry events.

Conduct plan checks on commercial, industrial and residential structures, review plan calculations, reports and other documents for compliance with the adopted codes and ordinances.

Review complex or high-priority projects personally.

Support the development and implementation of best practices and process improvements for plan review.

Assist in preparing reports, summaries, and documentation related to plan review activities.

Participate in the development of departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines related to plan review.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of the plan review workflow and quality assurance processes.

Engage in professional development opportunities to maintain and enhance technical knowledge and leadership skills.

Requirements

Candidates must live locally or within the State of CA and are not eligible for relocation expenses. Employees may be required to visit client locations, job sites, or other business-related locations in the course of their duties. In addition, employees may be assigned to clients whose business needs require driving as part of the employee's job responsibilities. Accordingly, employees assigned to positions requiring business-related driving must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

The Regional Plan Check Manager must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The candidate must have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in plan review, construction inspection, or a related field.

Experience managing a team or leading plan check activities is required.

Demonstrated expertise in local, state, and federal building codes, standards, and regulations is mandatory.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.

The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment is required.

Proficiency with relevant plan review software, CAD tools, and Microsoft Office suite is necessary.

A valid driver's license is required due to potential client site visits and driving responsibilities.
