About the role
You will lead a product-facing engineering team dedicated to maximizing the value of Crunchyroll for every prospective fan. Your primary focus will be on designing and executing the technology that drives acquisition and conversion across the entire user journey. You will own the end-to-end delivery of critical experiences, including acquisition funnels, onboarding flows, and promotional landing pages that directly influence membership growth. This role demands close collaboration with commercial and creative stakeholders to translate ambitious growth goals into technically sound and user-centric products. You will be responsible for ensuring that new experiments, campaigns, and features not only launch successfully but also provide clear, actionable insight into their financial and customer impact. Because this domain is central to the business, you will need to operate with speed, clarity, and a bias for action in a dynamic environment.

What you'll do
Lead a high-performing product-facing engineering team focused on acquisition, conversion, and monetization initiatives for Crunchyroll.
Partner with Product, Design, Business, Go-to-Market, Legal, and Data teams to define, prioritize, and deliver roadmap items that improve funnel performance and customer lifetime value.
Own the end-to-end delivery of acquisition funnel experiences, onboarding journeys, campaign landing flows, and conversion experimentation features.
Establish clear priorities, goals, and key metrics for the team, aligning engineering effort with business outcomes and growth targets.
Drive improvements in critical performance indicators such as funnel completion, registration rate, trial start rate, paid conversion, and campaign conversion.
Champion engineering best practices to ensure the delivery of secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems that support rapid experimentation.
Resolve cross-team dependencies and stakeholder misalignments proactively to maintain momentum and reduce friction during high-priority initiatives.
Implement strong service ownership practices, including comprehensive documentation, operational readiness, monitoring, alerts, and post-launch analysis.
Hire, coach, and develop engineers by creating clear career paths, providing equitable growth opportunities, and fostering a healthy, high-performing team culture.
Guide senior engineers and individual contributors toward impactful roles that maximize their contributions to the team and the broader organization.
Improve how customer impact is measured and communicated by defining robust success metrics and learning loops for every major launch.
Ensure the team operates efficiently under ambiguity and shifting priorities while maintaining a sustainable pace and long-term technical quality.
Leverage deep expertise in acquisition and conversion product development to identify opportunities that deliver the greatest return on investment.
Collaborate with Monetization Platform and other foundational teams to ensure architectural integrity and avoid technical debt at scale.
Requirements
Have 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a hands-on technical role.
Have 3+ years of experience managing engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance development.
Have a strong track record of delivering high-impact software products that improve business outcomes.
Have expertise in building and optimizing conversion funnels, landing pages, and high-volume web applications.
Have experience working with web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, along with modern frontend frameworks.
Have experience collaborating with cross-functional partners in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate strategy, priorities, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Have sound judgment and the ability to make informed decisions in ambiguous situations while balancing speed and quality.
Nice to have
Experience with experimentation platforms, feature flagging, and A/B testing methodologies.
Experience with analytics and data instrumentation to measure conversion performance and user behavior.
Experience working with subscription-based business models and understanding of key monetization metrics.
Experience with agile development practices and modern DevOps workflows.
Experience contributing to open source projects relevant to web infrastructure.

This role is primarily based in Los Angeles, California, due to the need for proximity to key business strategy and campaign timing.
