About the role

You will own the daily execution of the Assembly Team Lead function, guiding the crew through safe and efficient production of high-voltage switchyard components. You will translate engineering drawings and work instructions into clear, step-by-step actions for assemblers on the shop floor. You will partner with Engineering, Estimating, and Project Management to ensure buildability, accuracy, and on-time delivery of every unit. You will own the flow of materials, from receiving through staging to kitting, ensuring the right parts are available at the right time. You will drive continuous improvement by analyzing production metrics, removing bottlenecks, and standardizing best practices for repeatable success. You will mentor new hires and cross-train team members to build a resilient and flexible assembly operation. You will maintain rigorous quality standards, ensuring all work meets customer specifications and internal compliance requirements. You will serve as the primary liaison on the production floor, escalating risks and coordinating rapid responses to any disruptions.

What you'll do

Coordinate detailed production schedules that align material deliveries with crew capacity and dock availability.

Lead daily safety standups and toolbox talks to reinforce safe work practices and ensure compliance with all company policies.

Interpret electrical one-line diagrams, layout plans, and fabrication instructions to guide accurate assembly sequencing.

Monitor workstation progress in real time, adjusting task assignments to prevent downtime and keep workflow balanced.

Perform root cause analysis on defects, driving corrective actions and updating work instructions to prevent recurrence.

Maintain strict inventory discipline, conducting cycle counts and reconciling stock records to support accurate build execution.

Collaborate with logistics to stage completed modules, manage dock scheduling, and coordinate load-out activities.

Support continuous improvement initiatives by benchmarking cycle times, proposing tooling upgrades, and testing process changes.

Act as the escalation point for production issues, coordinating with engineering and supply chain to resolve constraints quickly.

Prepare concise operational updates for management, highlighting achievements, risks, and support needs each shift.

Champion quality first mindset, verifying that every build meets electrical, mechanical, and dimensional requirements.

Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and zero tolerance for unsafe behaviors across the assembly team.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with federal labor regulations and worksite safety standards.

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent credential as proof of foundational knowledge and communication skills.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements at this time.

Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check to ensure compliance with safety and security policies.

Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a valid medical or religious exemption as documented per company policy.

Must be able to work a standard 40-hour schedule with occasional overtime to meet production and project deadlines.

Must be able to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods as required by assembly tasks.

Must be able to lift and maneuver components up to 50 pounds safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to follow instructions and coordinate with team members.

Nice to have

Experience in metal fabrication, structural assembly, or heavy manufacturing environments is preferred for this role.

Familiarity with electrical power equipment, substation layouts, and pad foundation requirements is a valuable asset.

Knowledge of quality management systems, inspection procedures, and compliance documentation is desirable.

Experience with scheduling, material planning, or production coordination in a project-based setting is an advantage.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and workplace digital tools supports accurate communication and reporting.

Practical notes

This is a regular full-time position based in Alexandria, Louisiana, with shifts aligned to production needs.

Travel is not expected as part of this role, ensuring consistent presence on the production floor.
