What you'll do

• Assist in the setup and operation of drilling rigs and related equipment, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
• Support the drilling team in the collection of soil and rock samples for analysis, maintaining accuracy and integrity throughout the process.
• Help with the maintenance and repair of drilling equipment, ensuring that all tools are in optimal working condition.
• Participate in site preparation activities, including clearing and marking drill sites, to facilitate efficient operations.
• Document drilling activities and sample collection accurately, maintaining detailed records for reporting purposes.
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers and other team members to ensure project specifications are met and timelines are adhered to.
• Assist in the transportation of equipment and materials to and from job sites, ensuring safe handling and compliance with regulations.
• Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your understanding of geotechnical practices and drilling techniques.
• Monitor and report on site conditions, including weather and geological factors that may impact drilling operations.
• Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Participate in team meetings and provide input on project progress and challenges encountered in the field.
• Foster a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and promoting effective communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in geotechnical engineering or a related field is an asset.
• Previous experience in a drilling or construction environment is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn about drilling equipment and techniques.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record to operate company vehicles as needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing site conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by project demands.

Nice to have

• Experience with geotechnical drilling techniques and equipment is a plus.
• Familiarity with soil and rock sampling methods and laboratory testing procedures.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain certification.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices related to drilling operations.
• Previous experience working in remote or challenging environments.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools related to drilling operations.
• Familiarity with GPS and surveying equipment is advantageous.
