What you'll do

• Operate and maintain diamond drilling rigs, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are met at all times.
• Conduct pre-drilling inspections and routine maintenance on drilling equipment to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with geologists and other team members to determine drilling locations and strategies based on geological data.
• Monitor drilling progress and make real-time adjustments to drilling parameters to optimize core recovery and minimize waste.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards, actively participating in safety meetings and training sessions.
• Document drilling activities meticulously, including core samples, drilling parameters, and any issues encountered during operations.
• Train and mentor junior drillers and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
• Assist in the mobilization and demobilization of drilling equipment, ensuring that all tools and materials are transported safely and efficiently.
• Participate in post-drilling evaluations to assess performance and identify areas for improvement in future operations.
• Maintain a clean and organized worksite, adhering to best practices in waste management and environmental stewardship.
• Communicate effectively with project managers and other stakeholders to provide updates on drilling progress and any challenges faced.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in diamond drilling operations, with a proven track record of successful projects.
• Strong understanding of drilling techniques, equipment, and safety protocols in the mining industry.
• Valid certification in First Aid and CPR; additional safety certifications are a plus.
• Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to varying weather conditions, demonstrating resilience and flexibility.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with team members and management.
• Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks associated with drilling operations.
• Familiarity with geological principles and core sampling techniques is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using drilling software and tools for data collection and analysis.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a drilling team.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices in sustainable drilling operations.
• Experience with advanced drilling technologies and techniques, such as directional drilling.
• Familiarity with the local geology of British Columbia and its implications for drilling operations.
