What you'll do

Operate drilling equipment and machinery under the supervision of experienced drillers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
Assist in the setup and breakdown of drilling rigs, including the transportation of equipment to and from job sites.
Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Collaborate with team members to monitor drilling progress and make necessary adjustments to achieve project goals.
Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including depth, time, and any encountered geological formations.
Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge of best practices and safety regulations.
Support drillers in the implementation of drilling plans, including the selection of appropriate drilling techniques and tools.
Engage in physical labor, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions, to assist with drilling operations.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to report any issues or concerns that may arise during drilling activities.
Learn to interpret geological data and assist in the analysis of drilling results for further exploration and development.
Uphold Conetec's commitment to environmental stewardship by following established protocols for waste disposal and site restoration.
Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; further education in geology, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Previous experience in drilling, construction, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level positions.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting heavy objects and working outdoors.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate teamwork and reporting.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods in the drilling industry.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record; ability to operate heavy machinery is an asset.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by project demands.
Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting purposes.

Nice to have

Experience operating drilling rigs or related heavy machinery.
Certification in First Aid/CPR or other relevant safety training.
Familiarity with geological terminology and principles.
Previous experience in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating strong collaboration skills.
Knowledge of environmental regulations related to drilling and construction activities.

Skills & tools

Candidates should be proficient in using hand tools and basic power tools commonly used in drilling operations. Familiarity with drilling equipment and machinery is advantageous. Additionally, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential for success in this role.

Practical notes

This position may require travel to various job sites, which could involve overnight stays. Candidates should be prepared for a physically demanding work environment and should possess the stamina to perform tasks in varying weather conditions. Training will be provided for all necessary equipment and safety protocols.
