About the role
You will support the Controllership Operations team in modernizing the Procure-to-Pay lifecycle by analyzing workflows and identifying manual touchpoints. You will act as a bridge between operational accounting and technological innovation, focusing on process optimization and AI automation. You will collaborate with developers to translate business needs into technical requirements for automation initiatives. You will help test and validate new software to ensure data integrity between financial systems and AI tools. You will provide ad-hoc support for invoice processing and payment run workflows within the AP function. You will assist with the auditing and compliance of employee Travel & Expense transaction reports to maintain financial integrity. You will contribute to month-end close activities related to AP and general controllership duties to ensure timely financial reporting.

What you'll do
Support analyzing and mapping current Procure-to-Pay workflows to identify bottlenecks, manual touchpoints, and inefficiencies across the end-to-end process.
Collaborate with the controllership team to design and implement streamlined processes that reduce cycle times and improve accuracy across procurement and payment operations.
Assist in developing standard operating procedures for newly optimized workflows to ensure consistency and scalability across the organization.
Support the rollout of AI initiatives within the AP function, including automated invoice data extraction and intelligent workflow routing to reduce manual effort.
Act as a liaison between the accounting team and technical developers, helping to translate business requirements into technical specifications for automation solutions.
Help test and validate new automation software, performing quality checks to ensure data integrity between financial systems and AI tools.
Provide ad-hoc support for invoice processing and payment run workflows, including exception handling and verification of payment accuracy.
Assist with the auditing and compliance of employee Travel & Expense transaction reports, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
Assist with month-end close activities related to AP and general controllership duties, including reconciliations and documentation of procedures.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by documenting process changes and sharing learnings across the controllership team.
Engage with cross-functional stakeholders to gather feedback on automation tools and drive adoption of optimized workflows.
Leverage AI-native tools to support analysis tasks and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for finance operations.
Participate in project meetings and working sessions to track progress, identify risks, and ensure alignment with controllership objectives.
Support the maintenance and enhancement of process documentation to ensure clarity and accessibility for future process owners.
Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Analytics, or a related field.
Enrolled for the Fall 2026 semester with a valid return date confirmation for continued enrollment.
Available to work in-office in Austin, TX for the duration of the internship as remote work is not an option for this role.
Eligible to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship from Cloudflare for this internship position.
Possess a strong foundational understanding of technology, data analytics, or AI-related projects, with demonstrated interest in how automation transforms finance.
Have a demonstrated interest in process improvement and a natural curiosity for identifying inefficiencies in operational workflows.
Exhibit strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data, map processes, and assess operational performance.
Communicate effectively in a professional setting, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data, transaction testing, and compliance reviews.
Show willingness to learn and adapt to new software tools, including enterprise financial systems and emerging automation platforms.
Nice to have
Prior experience with data analytics tools, scripting, or basic coding knowledge is preferred but not required for this role.
Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems or prior exposure to procure-to-pay processes is a plus.

This is an in-office internship based in Austin, TX, and participation is not available remotely.
You must be available to work the hours specified in the offer details and commit to the full internship duration.
Interns are not eligible for compensation or payment for this internship position.
