This role is an extension of our mission, focused on leading the engineering efforts that power real-world experiences through technology. As an , you will own the end-to-end delivery of your team, responsible for designing and shipping features that connect people with real-world experiences. You will partner closely with product to translate user needs into a clear product vision and a realistic roadmap. You will define and own the technical architecture, ensuring that your services are reliable, scalable, and secure. You will lead code reviews and technical design discussions, elevating the quality of engineering output across your team. You will mentor engineers, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers. You will analyze product and operational data to guide experiments and prioritize work. You will remove blockers and foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will communicate progress and tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders across the business.
What you'll do
Define and communicate a clear technical vision and long-term roadmap for your team in partnership with product and design. Break down complex product problems into well-scoped deliverables, balancing user value, technical debt, and speed of execution. Partner with product managers to set priorities, define acceptance criteria, and ensure alignment on outcomes. Design and implement robust, scalable backend services and APIs that power the ClassPass and Playlist user experiences. Lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, design, and data to deliver high-quality software on schedule. Own the architecture and reliability of your services, including performance, monitoring, and incident response. Mentor engineers through code reviews, feedback, and career development conversations, fostering a culture of learning and craftsmanship. Analyze product and system metrics to inform experiments, validate hypotheses, and guide data-driven decision making. Work closely with designers and stakeholders to translate user needs into product requirements and technical specifications. Continuously evaluate tools, processes, and frameworks to improve engineering productivity and developer experience. Contribute to hiring decisions by interviewing candidates and helping build a diverse, high-performing engineering team. Ensure that your team's work aligns with business goals, compliance requirements, and customer expectations. Promote best practices in security, privacy, and operational excellence across the services you own. Act as a technical leader in shaping how your team solves hard problems and manages technical tradeoffs.
Requirements
Must be a legal authorized to work in the United States. Currently reside in the United States. Have 5 or more years of experience in software engineering or a related technical field. Have 3 or more years of experience in people management or leadership roles. Have experience managing a roadmap and delivering multiple concurrent projects. Have strong experience with backend systems, APIs, and distributed architectures. Have experience working with relational databases and SQL. Have experience using modern software development practices, including version control, testing, and CI/CD.
Nice to have experience in mobile development or working with iOS and Android platforms. Experience with data analytics and instrumentation. Experience in high-growth consumer products. Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure. Experience mentoring engineers in agile environments.
Practical notes
This role is full time. Employment is contingent on successful completion of background checks. The role is based in the United States and may require travel up to 10% of the time. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. The role is posted for a fixed period and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
