About the role

The Speech and Language Pathologist serves as a dedicated clinical professional responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention of communication disorders within the school community. This role owns the design and implementation of individualized treatment plans that align with educational goals and regulatory standards. You will own the collaboration with teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure a cohesive approach to student progress. The position owns the responsibility of maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with all district, state, and federal guidelines. You will own the analysis of assessment data to drive decision-making and adjust therapeutic strategies as needed. This role owns the active participation in multidisciplinary team meetings and contributes to the development of school-wide communication initiatives. You are the owner of professional development in the field of speech-language pathology to bring current best practices to the classroom. Ultimately, this position owns the contribution to a supportive learning environment that fosters the communication skills necessary for student success.

What you'll do

Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students' speech, language, and communication abilities to identify needs and eligibility.

Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that target specific communication goals and track student progress over time.

Provide direct therapeutic services to students through both individual and small group sessions within the school setting.

Consult regularly with classroom teachers to modify instructional strategies and create communication-friendly learning environments.

Perform ongoing monitoring of student progress to adjust treatment plans and ensure measurable outcomes are achieved.

Document all clinical sessions and maintain meticulous records in compliance with school policies and legal requirements.

Collaborate with families to share strategies and provide home-based activities that reinforce communication skills.

Participate in school-wide screening activities to identify students who may benefit from speech and language services.

Coordinate with related service providers to integrate communication goals into the broader educational plan.

Lead professional learning sessions for staff to build capacity in supporting diverse communication needs.

Utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic tools and resources to engage students and promote skill acquisition.

Attend all required meetings, including IEP reviews and multidisciplinary conferences, to advocate for student needs.

Support the implementation of school initiatives related to character education and the arts through communication-focused activities.

Promote the classical curriculum by integrating Latin, debate, and literary analysis into speech and language exercises where appropriate.

Requirements

Must hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Possess a current New York State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Maintain Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Have a proven track record of experience working in a school-based setting with diverse student populations.

Demonstrate strong knowledge of speech, language, and communication disorders and their impact on learning.

Be proficient in conducting both formal and informal assessments to guide instructional planning.

Show ability to develop and implement intervention strategies that align with educational standards.

Must pass a background check and meet all requirements for working with minors in the State of New York.

Nice to have

Experience with Latin curriculum integration and classical education methodologies.

Knowledge of debate frameworks and public speaking techniques to support communication goals.

Familiarity with arts integration strategies to enhance speech and language development.

Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with autism and learning disabilities.

Hours: 7:30am-4:45pm

Employment Type: Regular Full-Time
