The Investments Group serves as the engine for our capital deployment. This group sources, structures, and executes new investments while ensuring fund performance meets objectives. The Associate Vice President, Investments reports to this team. You will work directly with Investment Leads, Principals, and Founders. The position operates within a growth-focused environment. You will gain broad exposure to multifamily, office, retail, and industrial sectors. Your work will cover equity strategies across the risk-return spectrum. These include core, core-plus, value-add, opportunistic, and ground-up development. You will also engage with CIM's other investment platforms. This role is central to delivering successful investment outcomes from entry through exit.
This position is based at our headquarters in Los Angeles, California. It supports the Real Estate Investments team. Key functions include transaction management, economic and market research, and financial analysis. You will manage transactions from intake to close. You will conduct thorough due diligence and handle ongoing asset governance. You will be a core member of deal teams. You will participate in internal and external meetings. You will represent CIM Group and the Investments team. You will synthesize complex deal data into clear materials for investment committees.
Position Requirements
This role demands a high level of professional expertise. You must possess a minimum of three years in finance or private investment. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is required. You must demonstrate superior critical thinking abilities. Your commercial judgment must be proven in complex scenarios. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will operate at the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
Primary Responsibilities
You will consolidate inputs from various departments to drive investment results. You will own the analysis process from initial contact to final execution. You will shape transaction strategy for equity investments in multifamily, office, retail, and industrial assets. You will serve as a primary liaison with principals. You will advance portfolio initiatives and enhance fund performance.
Your responsibilities will include conducting market and economic research. This research will frame investment hypotheses and guide decisions. You will orchestrate transaction workflows. This includes intake, due diligence, and final documentation. You will coordinate internal reviews. These reviews will align analysis, risk assessment, and fund goals. You will structure and execute new investments. You will work across diverse asset classes and risk-return profiles.
You will partner with portfolio management teams. You will monitor existing assets and support governance. You will contribute to value creation strategies over time. You will lead due diligence processes. These processes will examine financial, legal, and operational components. You will represent CIM Group in meetings. You will clearly communicate rationale and progress to investors and leadership. You will translate deal information into concise presentations and reports. Your work will support timely investment committee actions.
Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in finance and private investments.
- An MBA or comparable advanced degree.
- Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and commercial judgment.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in real estate equity investing is a plus. This experience should be within a multi-asset platform. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat is expected.
