About the role

CI&T is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to support an international group focused on developing scalable payment systems. You will handle the full lifecycle of quality assurance, from initial test design to performance analysis within an Agile environment. In this capacity, you will own the strategy and execution of test activities for critical financial platforms. You will act as a quality owner, ensuring that products meet functional, performance, and security standards before release. The role requires a proactive mindset to drive quality initiatives and instill best practices across the team. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between technical implementation and business expectations through rigorous validation. Your work will directly influence the reliability and user experience of the products delivered by the organization.

What you'll do

• Architect and manage complex automated testing solutions for payment platforms.
• Design and validate robust test cases for GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Implement and maintain API contract testing to verify provider and consumer compatibility.
• Execute functional, integration, and end-to-end test suites across multiple environments.
• Develop and perform load and performance testing scenarios using JMeter.
• Collaborate closely with Scrum teams, Product Owners, and developers throughout the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Identify edge cases and expand test coverage early in the development cycle to prevent production issues.
• Investigate defects and perform root cause analysis to support continuous process improvements.
• Create detailed test documentation and traceability matrices for audit and compliance purposes.
• Mentor junior QA engineers on automation strategies and testing methodologies.
• Evaluate new testing tools and frameworks to optimize the quality assurance process.
• Ensure test environments accurately reflect production configurations and data scenarios.
• Monitor test execution metrics and report on quality status to stakeholders effectively.

Requirements

• Senior-level professional background in QA Automation with a minimum of six years of relevant experience.
• Advanced English proficiency for daily international collaboration with global teams and stakeholders.
• Proven experience with Postman for designing, testing, and documenting API requests.
• Background in Contract Testing using PACT or similar tools to ensure service reliability.
• Practical experience with JMeter for performance, stress, and load testing of applications.
• Proficiency with REST APIs, including understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, and authentication flows.
• Familiarity with automation frameworks including Cucumber, Mockito, JUnit, WireMock, and REST Assured.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to navigate complex business logic and identify critical edge cases.
• Experience working within Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong understanding of software development principles and version control systems like Git.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail in all testing activities.
• Willingness to adapt to changing requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of secure testing practices and compliance requirements for financial applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a logical approach to diagnosing and resolving test failures.

Nice to have

• Background in fintech or payment industry projects involving transaction processing and financial data.
• Understanding of security testing, specifically DAST or OAT, to identify vulnerabilities in applications.
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines to integrate testing into deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with mutation testing using PIT to measure the effectiveness of test suites.
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of database querying and validation for SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with test management tools such as Jira, Xray, or similar platforms.
• Experience with behavior-driven development practices and Gherkin syntax.
• Understanding of performance benchmarking and scalability testing principles.

Practical notes

• The engagement is Full Time, requiring availability during standard business hours in the São Paulo timezone.
• The position is Hybrid, combining remote work with office presence according to team agreements.
• Travel is generally not required for this role, but occasional visits to client sites may be necessary.
