What you'll do
- Address regulatory and mandatory demands for a client in the benefits sector by analyzing requirements and implementing secure, scalable software solutions.
- Modernize legacy systems through strategic refactoring and the introduction of contemporary architectural patterns to improve maintainability.
- Develop Java applications using Spring Boot to create efficient, reusable, and well-documented codebases that meet business objectives.
- Write unit tests and participate in code reviews to ensure software quality, reliability, and adherence to best practices across the development lifecycle.
- Maintain clean, simple, and easily maintainable code that facilitates future enhancements and reduces technical debt over time.
- Work with Oracle and Mongo databases to design data models, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity and performance standards.
- Apply Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban, including dailies, sprints, and reviews, to coordinate tasks, track progress, and deliver incremental value.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather insights, clarify requirements, and align technical deliverables with regulatory expectations.
- Implement features that integrate with external systems and services while maintaining high standards for security and data protection.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize service disruptions and ensure continuous compliance.
- Contribute to the definition of technical standards and guidelines for the team to promote consistency and scalability.
- Support the deployment pipeline by configuring environments, automating processes, and validating releases before going live.
- Mentor junior developers by sharing knowledge, conducting pair programming sessions, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Evaluate new tools and technologies to identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and resilience of the application landscape.
Requirements
- Experience with legacy system modernization is mandatory, demonstrating a track record of successfully migrating or refactoring complex applications.
- Background in handling regulatory or mandatory requirements is essential, with proven ability to interpret and implement compliance-driven specifications.
- Proficiency in Java development with Spring Boot is required, including hands-on experience with core frameworks and related libraries.
- Ability to develop unit tests and engage in code reviews is non-negotiable to ensure high-quality outputs and sustainable codebases.
- Strong understanding of clean code principles is expected, including naming conventions, modular design, and separation of concerns.
- Experience with Oracle and Mongo databases is required, including SQL and NoSQL data modeling, indexing, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with Agile concepts (Scrum, Kanban, dailies, sprints, reviews) is mandatory for effective collaboration and iterative delivery.
- Knowledge of OCP, VSTS, AWS, pipelines, lambdas, Sonar, microservices architecture, and Azure is required to thrive in this role and contribute to cloud-native solutions.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with legacy Java technologies (Servlets, JSP, JAX-WS/JAX-RS) is preferred to ease the transition from older systems to modern stacks.
- Experience with Docker is preferred to support containerization efforts and streamline deployment workflows.
Practical notes
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with a hybrid work model that allows home office arrangements. However, if you reside in the Campinas Metropolitan Region, there is a mandatory requirement for periodic presence in the office to facilitate collaboration and alignment with the team.
