[Job-30809] Senior Java Developer, Brazil
Job description
[Job-30809] Senior Java Developer, Brazil at CI&T.
About the role
At CI&T, this Senior Java Developer will partner with large enterprises to translate their strategic ambitions into robust, production-ready technology through AI Deployment and AI-native execution. You will own the full lifecycle of backend features, from initial discovery and technical design through clean implementation, rigorous testing, and continuous performance improvement in regulated environments. Working inside small, cross-functional teams, you will be responsible for turning abstract business goals into concrete solutions that are secure, scalable, and maintainable. Your daily work will involve writing clear Java code, conducting thoughtful code reviews, and actively participating in planning and debugging sessions that shape the product direction. You will spend significant time explaining technical decisions in plain language, ensuring that both technical and non-technical stakeholders understand the rationale behind every implementation. Success in this role will be defined by your ability to build resilient systems, mentor peers, and consistently deliver high-quality software that drives measurable business impact. This position is ideal for an engineer who values craftsmanship, collaboration, and the challenge of solving complex problems in enterprise contexts.

Interpret business objectives alongside the client partner at CI&T, collaborating to propose technical solutions that align with strategic goals and regulatory constraints.
Write clean, testable, and efficient code that forms the foundation of production-grade applications, ensuring reliability and maintainability over time.
Collaborate within small engineering teams to review code, share knowledge, and improve overall solution quality through collective ownership.
Implement features in short cycles, enabling frequent validation and rapid adaptation to changing business needs or compliance requirements.
Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring that applications remain responsive and stable under real-world load conditions.
Contribute to system design discussions, evaluating trade-offs and selecting appropriate technologies and patterns for scalable architectures.
Support the continuous improvement of development practices by leveraging automated testing and continuous integration to maintain high software quality standards.
Engage in debugging complex issues by analyzing logs, tracing requests, and working closely with cross-functional partners to identify root causes.
Document technical decisions and architectural patterns to ensure clarity and enable effective handovers and long-term maintainability.
Act as a technical leader within the team, mentoring junior developers and fostering a culture of quality and craftsmanship.
Evaluate emerging tools and techniques, proposing experiments that help the team adopt best practices in cloud platforms and modern programming paradigms.
Champion secure coding practices, ensuring that solutions adhere to industry standards and the specific compliance needs of financial services.
Participate in on-call responsibilities and incident response processes, contributing to the reliability and continuous availability of critical systems.
Requirements

You must maintain a resilient profile capable of thriving in challenging contexts and adapting to evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment.
You must have a strong understanding of software design principles and be able to apply them to create maintainable and testable codebases.
You must be comfortable working in an agile environment, participating in sprints, daily standups, and iterative planning sessions.
You must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You must show a proven track record of collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.
You must be detail-oriented and thorough in your approach to testing, debugging, and delivering work that meets high standards of quality.
You must be committed to continuous learning, actively seeking feedback and opportunities to grow your skills and impact within the organization.
Practical notes
Typical interview steps
Hiring for engineering roles usually starts with a recruiter screen, followed by one or two technical rounds. Candidates often solve a coding problem, discuss past projects, and answer system design questions. Some loops include a take-home task. Final rounds typically cover team fit and give candidates a chance to ask questions. Interviewers look for how you break down an unfamiliar problem, not just whether you reach the answer. Practicing a few problems aloud and reviewing your own past projects are the best preparation.
Good to know
Roles in this field often involve cloud platforms and modern programming languages. Teams rely on automated testing and continuous integration to maintain quality. Problem solving and collaboration are central to delivering solutions in regulated sectors. Communication skills support alignment with business objectives.
Questions to ask
Good questions to ask the employer in the interview: what does success look like in the first six months, how is the team structured, what is the current biggest challenge, and how are decisions made. Asking about growth paths and the review process is also well received. Employers expect questions, and good ones show preparation.
Career growth
Engineering careers usually progress from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels. Some engineers move into management and lead teams of five to twenty people. Others stay on the technical track. Growth follows demonstrated impact, not tenure alone. A typical engineering ladder has clear levels with defined expectations for scope, quality, and mentorship. Moving up usually requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tickets.
