About the role
The owns the strategic partnership with the VP of Marketing and the broader marketing organization, translating complex data into actionable business insights. This role is responsible for building and maintaining the frameworks that measure marketing effectiveness, ensuring decisions are driven by rigorous analysis rather than intuition. The hire will lead the evolution of marketing measurement toward incrementality and advanced modeling, establishing the financial narrative behind every campaign. In addition to marketing, this role partners closely with the broader go-to-market and executive teams to shape investment priorities across the business. You will leverage AI to automate and enhance financial reporting, providing timely intelligence that keeps leadership ahead of market shifts. The position requires balancing independent judgment with deep collaboration, challenging assumptions while enabling growth through data-backed recommendations. You will own the unit economics model and communicate financial outcomes directly to the executive suite with clarity and precision.

What you'll do
- Own the strategic finance partnership with the VP of Marketing and the marketing leadership team, embedding within demand generation and brand initiatives to anticipate needs and provide guidance.
- Build and maintain the framework for measuring ROAS, channel efficiency, and attribution across paid, brand, and lifecycle channels while advancing toward causal, incremental measurement.
- Drive the adoption of incrementality testing and Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) to distinguish correlation from causation and clarify the true impact of each dollar spent.
- Own the unit economics model, reporting, and insights to evaluate profitability and inform strategic investment decisions for both internal planning and external stakeholder communication.
- Lead the marketing planning process, including annual and long-range planning, by stress-testing investment cases and constructing the financial narrative that secures executive confidence.
- Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Product teams to quantitatively validate strategic bets, ensuring resources are directed toward the highest-impact opportunities.
- Develop and deploy AI-powered workflows and automated reporting systems that enhance the analytical capabilities of the FP&A team and marketing partners.
- Influence executive decision-making by presenting complex findings and recommendations in a clear, compelling manner that drives action from senior leadership.
- Govern the budget management and reporting for the COO's overall budget alongside the Strategic Finance analyst, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate financial insights with product, sales, and operations data, creating a unified view of performance.
- Establish best practices for data quality, documentation, and methodology so that insights are reliable, repeatable, and scalable.
- Act as a thought partner to the marketing organization, challenging assumptions and identifying opportunities to optimize spend and improve outcomes.
- Translate business problems into analytical models, enabling stakeholders to understand trade-offs and make informed decisions.
- Contribute to the broader financial strategy of the company by aligning marketing initiatives with corporate goals and investor expectations.
Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 4 years as a dedicated strategic finance partner to B2B marketing organizations.
- Maintain a foundation in investment banking, private equity, or management consulting, demonstrating experience in rigorous analysis and business strategy.
- Exhibit deep fluency in marketing economics, including the ability to construct a channel ROI model from scratch and explain ROAS to a CMO in clear, accessible language.
- Serve as the connective tissue between the CFO and CMO, bridging financial discipline with marketing creativity to align on measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrate mastery across the marketing measurement stack, including multi-touch attribution, incrementality testing, and Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM).
- Demonstrate a proven track record of helping organizations move from vanity metrics to actionable, insight-driven decision-making.
- Show advanced proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and visualization, with the ability to synthesize complex datasets into concise narratives.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating analytical results into strategic recommendations.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and ownership.
- Navigate complex enterprise tools and systems to extract, transform, and analyze data with minimal supervision.

Practical notes
This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, California, requiring in-office presence. The role reports to the Head of Strategic Finance and involves significant interaction with the executive team. Travel is not expected as part of this role. This position is eligible for standard company benefits as applicable to full-time employees.
