About the role

Chartis seeks a Data Licensing & Operations Manager to own the operational backbone of the firm's third-party data ecosystem. In this role, you will drive the end-to-end management of data procurement, licensing, and vendor relationships to ensure reliable and compliant access to critical data assets. You will act as the central liaison between Chartis and external data providers, safeguarding the integrity of data usage across the firm's brands. This position requires a high level of ownership, process rigor, and collaboration with legal, finance, and practice leadership teams. You will play a key role in rationalizing the vendor landscape to eliminate redundancy and enhance cost effectiveness. The role offers the opportunity to build scalable data operations that support analytics, advisory services, and strategic decision making. You will contribute directly to the firm's mission of helping healthcare clients create solutions that improve affordability, access, and safety.

What you'll do

Evaluate new data requirements in partnership with practice leaders and the Strategic Intelligence and Technology team to define acquisition specifications.

Manage the full procurement lifecycle for third-party data assets, including vendor identification, competitive evaluations, contract negotiation, and onboarding with data engineering.

Serve as the primary contact for third-party data vendors, handling ongoing relationships, issue resolution, access coordination, and performance reviews.

Maintain all licensing agreements, tracking contract terms, permitted use rights, data field restrictions, and reporting obligations for audit readiness.

Guide pricing strategy and cost allocation models for firmwide use of data and analytics assets to ensure transparency and consistency.

Identify opportunities to rationalize the vendor portfolio by consolidating redundant sources and retiring underutilized contracts to improve return on investment.

Build and maintain a centralized data vendor inventory that captures active contracts, licensing terms, renewal dates, costs, and usage metrics.

Own the vendor renewal calendar, manage timelines, conduct usage and value assessments, and lead renegotiations to optimize costs and terms.

Track data usage compliance by monitoring activity against contractual allowances, maintaining audit-ready records, and ensuring adherence to vendor reporting requirements.

Lead project management for data operations initiatives, including new data acquisitions, research projects, and internal data programs from initiation to completion.

Coordinate cross-functional alignment with legal, finance, and practice teams during evaluations, negotiations, and reviews to ensure shared understanding and compliance.

Develop and maintain accurate vendor records covering costs, limits, dates, and usage patterns to support forecasting and decision making.

Support the implementation of data standards and operational procedures that enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve data usability across Chartis.

Act as an operational expert who balances strategic oversight with detailed execution to strengthen the firm's data management capabilities.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in business, information management, healthcare administration, or a related field.

Applicants must bring 5-7 years of experience in vendor management, procurement, contract administration, or data operations within professional services, consulting, or healthcare data environments.

Demonstrated experience with data licensing and software procurement agreements is required, including permitted use, data field restrictions, sublicensing, and audit rights related to syndication for product and AI model development.

Individuals must be able to work independently while managing multiple workstreams, milestone tracking, and stakeholder communication.

Effective communication skills are essential when interacting with legal, finance, and practice teams during evaluations, negotiations, and reviews.

The role requires the ability to maintain accurate vendor records covering costs, limits, and dates with a high degree of accuracy.

Applicants must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities evolve based on client and business needs.

U.S work authorization may be required for some roles, and candidates must be eligible to work in the location specified for the role.
