The Vice President, Global Controller at Chainalysis is responsible for architecting and leading the global accounting function in service of the company's strategic financial objectives and long-term scalability. This leader will own the end-to-end management of critical accounting operations, ensuring robust financial controls and flawless execution across all reporting cycles. They will act as a key strategic partner to the CFO and executive team, translating business ambitions into actionable financial roadmaps and infrastructure. What you'll do
Lead and scale the global Chainalysis accounting organization to ensure operational excellence, scalability, and consistent execution across all regions and functions.
Oversee the full spectrum of global accounting operations, including General Ledger Accounting, Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting, Revenue Recognition, Consolidations, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Tax Compliance, Treasury Operations, and Travel & Expense.
Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing global accounting team by establishing clear leadership depth, accountability standards, and a culture of collaboration and operational rigor.
Champion a culture of innovation by empowering teams to challenge legacy processes, drive organizational change, and continuously improve how accounting work is executed and scaled.
Serve as a strong culture ambassador, leading through transformation and fostering resilience and excellence in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Own and enhance the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to deliver timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting in strict accordance with US GAAP.
Ensure all accounting policies, practices, and reporting frameworks align with US GAAP and global standards, managing complex matters such as SaaS revenue recognition, commissions, equity compensation, and acquisitions.
Lead the maturation of the accounting and reporting environment to meet public-company standards, focusing on scalable controls, governance, SEC-readiness, SOX preparedness, and PCAOB-level audit readiness.
Serve as the executive owner for global audits and act as the primary senior point of contact for external auditors, guiding the resolution of all audit and compliance matters.
Drive operational excellence across the finance function by simplifying processes, standardizing workflows, leveraging automation, and ensuring disciplined execution across systems and team activities.
Partner strategically with leaders across Finance, Legal, Sales, RevOps, Product, People, IT, and executive leadership to ensure accounting systems, controls, and processes support scalable business growth.
Provide practical, solutions-oriented advisory on accounting and operational topics to enable effective decision-making and strategic alignment across the organization.
Serve as a strategic advisor to the CFO and executive leadership on matters of accounting, operational scalability, organizational design, and financial infrastructure development.
Support acquisitions and strategic transactions by leading financial due diligence, purchase accounting, integration planning, and post-close operational integration efforts.
Modernize systems and enable scalable growth by championing a technology-forward finance organization that leverages automation, AI-enabled workflows, scalable platforms, and data-driven insights to enhance efficiency and decision support.
Lead the evolution of the finance systems and accounting infrastructure, including ERP, billing, procurement, payroll, and reporting tools, to simplify workflows, eliminate manual processes, and accelerate the adoption of modern tools and AI capabilities.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting leadership experience within high-growth technology, SaaS, fintech, financial infrastructure, data, or similarly dynamic global organizations.
Demonstrated success in leading and scaling global accounting organizations across multiple entities, regions, and stages of growth, including deep experience in complex, scaled, and operationally mature environments.
Must have deep technical accounting expertise and a strong working knowledge of US GAAP, particularly within complex and evolving business models and transaction types.
Proven track record of building or maturing an accounting organization toward public-company readiness, including direct experience with PCAOB-level audits, SOX environments, and rigorous internal control frameworks.
Exceptional ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders and lead through influence, providing clear direction and practical solutions on accounting, systems, controls, and operational matters.
Strong leadership skills with the capacity to build, develop, and inspire high-performing teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Exceptional judgment and strategic thinking skills to advise executive leadership on financial infrastructure, organizational design, and long-term operational scalability.
Demonstrated experience in managing the full external audit lifecycle and serving as the primary liaison between internal finance and external auditors in complex regulatory environments.
