What you'll do
Lead the mechanical design and integration of new manufacturing equipment, ensuring alignment with production requirements and operational objectives.
Perform detailed mechanical analysis and calculations to validate equipment performance, structural integrity, and system compatibility under real-world conditions.
Develop and maintain mechanical schematics, layouts, and technical drawings that clearly communicate design intent to fabrication and installation teams.
Collaborate with electrical and control engineering teams to coordinate system interfaces, power requirements, and control logic integration.
Support the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems, verifying alignment, tolerances, and functionality before production release.
Drive root cause analysis for mechanical failures during testing or production, implementing corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
Evaluate vendor-submitted equipment packages, ensuring that mechanical specifications, drawings, and documentation meet internal standards and regulatory expectations.
Implement process improvements that reduce assembly time, improve ergonomics, and enhance equipment reliability across the production line.
Conduct hands-on testing and data collection during equipment trials, using measurement tools and instrumentation to verify performance against acceptance criteria.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.
Coordinate with quality assurance teams to ensure mechanical installations and modifications comply with established standards and validation protocols.
Support the development of maintenance procedures and service documentation to enable efficient troubleshooting and long-term equipment uptime.
Participate in cross-functional project meetings, providing mechanical insights that influence schedule decisions, risk mitigation, and resource planning.
Act as a point of contact for internal stakeholders on mechanical matters, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of design or installation issues.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into practical mechanical solutions.
Have a proven track record of working in a manufacturing or production environment, where attention to detail and adherence to standards are essential.
Showcase excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with engineering, operations, and quality teams.
Bring experience with mechanical design tools, including CAD software, to develop and iterate on equipment layouts and assemblies.
Exhibit strong project management abilities, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting established deadlines.
Have a history of conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to resolve mechanical issues in a systematic way.
Demonstrate a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, ensuring that all mechanical designs and installations meet applicable standards.
Nice to have
Experience with high-vacuum or cryogenic systems is preferred, given the technical nature of our environment and equipment.
Familiarity with automated manufacturing equipment and robotic integration is advantageous for supporting advanced production initiatives.
Knowledge of validation and qualification processes, including IQ/OQ/PQ protocols, is preferred to ensure seamless integration with quality systems.
Experience in a regulated environment where documentation control, change management, and audit readiness are essential will be valued.
