What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and maintain SHEQ management systems in compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to SHEQ policies and procedures across all departments.
- Analyze data from SHEQ performance metrics and prepare reports for management to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide training and support to staff on SHEQ practices, ensuring that all employees understand their responsibilities and the importance of compliance.
- Collaborate with various teams to promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness within the organization.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for potential incidents.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in legislation, integrating new knowledge into the SHEQ management system.
- Assist in the preparation of SHEQ-related documentation for tenders and contracts, ensuring compliance with client requirements.
- Facilitate SHEQ meetings and workshops to engage employees and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the management team in achieving SHEQ objectives and targets, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Requirements
- A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a SHEQ role, preferably within the construction or manufacturing sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, environmental regulations, and quality management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with employees at all levels.
- Proven experience in conducting audits and inspections, with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SHEQ management software.
- NEBOSH or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is highly desirable.
Nice to have
- Experience in implementing ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and tools.
- Previous experience in training and development within a SHEQ context.
- Membership in a professional SHEQ organization (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM) is a plus.

Practical notes
- This position is based in Castledawson, County Londonderry, and may require occasional travel to project sites.
