Key facts
What you'll do
- Perform a variety of tiling tasks, including ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone installations, ensuring high standards of workmanship.
- Prepare surfaces for tiling by cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate adhesives and underlayments.
- Measure and cut tiles accurately to fit specific areas, ensuring precise alignment and a professional finish.
- Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to specifications.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on existing tiled surfaces, addressing any issues such as cracks or loose tiles.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and best practices to minimize hazards.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients, addressing their concerns, and offering expert advice on tile selection and care.
- Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and materials to continuously improve skills and service offerings.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff members, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Document project progress and report any challenges or delays to management promptly.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment safely and effectively to achieve optimal results in tiling projects.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements and enhanced service delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a tiler or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing completed projects.
- Proficiency in various tiling techniques and materials, including knowledge of installation methods for different surfaces.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various conditions.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites as required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- A valid CSCS card or equivalent certification is preferred.
Nice to have
- Experience in other construction trades, such as plumbing or carpentry, is a plus.
- Familiarity with eco-friendly and sustainable tiling practices and materials.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, enhancing client interaction skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to construction and tiling.
- Additional certifications in tiling or related fields will be considered an advantage.
