Key facts
What you'll do
- Execute a variety of plastering techniques, including skimming, rendering, and applying decorative finishes to walls and ceilings.
- Prepare surfaces for plastering by cleaning, leveling, and applying bonding agents as necessary.
- Mix and apply plaster materials according to specifications, ensuring consistency and quality in every batch.
- Install plasterboard and other materials as part of the plastering process, ensuring proper alignment and secure attachment.
- Conduct repairs on existing plasterwork, addressing issues such as cracks, holes, and water damage to restore surfaces to their original condition.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians and plumbers, to ensure that plastering work is completed in conjunction with other construction activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety standards and protocols to minimize risks and hazards.
- Communicate effectively with project managers and clients to understand project requirements and timelines, providing updates on progress as needed.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a plasterer, with a minimum of 3 years in the field.
- Strong knowledge of various plastering techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members and clients effectively.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to construction work.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
Nice to have
- Certification in plastering or a related trade is a plus.
- Experience with specialized plastering techniques, such as Venetian plaster or stucco.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and eco-friendly materials.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a plastering team.
- Familiarity with the latest plastering tools and technologies.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using hand tools such as trowels, floats, and scrapers, as well as power tools like mixers and sanders.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during plastering projects.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Competence in basic math skills for measuring and calculating material quantities.
- Familiarity with construction software for project management and scheduling (if applicable).
