About the role
In this role, you will take charge of a team of hourly associates at a vehicle Inspection Center, ensuring that production objectives are consistently achieved. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the workflow of vehicle reconditioning, managing the performance of your team, and upholding quality standards for all inventory processed. This position is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring that all vehicles meet the company's high standards before they are delivered to customers.

What you'll do
- Guide the safe and efficient movement of vehicles through the repair process, ensuring that daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are met without compromising safety.
- Oversee the daily operations of the parts department, regularly evaluating team performance and providing constructive feedback and coaching to enhance skills.
- Create a positive and productive work atmosphere that promotes open communication and strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Address and resolve any team conflicts promptly, ensuring that all team members are clear on performance expectations and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to assess mechanical and physical vehicle defects, determining whether a vehicle should be repaired or rejected based on established criteria.
- Educate team members on quality control standards to guarantee that repairs are executed correctly on the first attempt, minimizing rework and enhancing efficiency.
- Ensure a safe working environment by identifying potential hazards and implementing measures to prevent accidents and injuries in the shop.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure that necessary parts are available for timely repairs.
- Analyze production metrics and report on team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance productivity.
- Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary safety gear and training.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay current with industry trends and best practices in vehicle reconditioning.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED is required for this position.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
- A valid and unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three years is essential.
- Proven experience in vehicle reconditioning processes and familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is necessary.
- Basic computer proficiency is required to manage documentation and reporting.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds independently is essential for this role.
- Candidates should be capable of standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks such as reaching, bending, and walking.
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, and vehicle maintenance odors.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and varied schedules as needed.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including goggles, gloves, and masks.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a leadership role within an automotive or manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and software can be advantageous.
- Certification in safety training or quality control processes is beneficial.
- Experience with conflict resolution and team-building activities can enhance team dynamics.
- Knowledge of automotive repair processes and terminology is a valuable asset.
