Carvana is seeking skilled technicians to join our high-tech Inspection Centers and maintain the quality of our vehicle inventory. You will focus on restoring vehicle interiors and glass to ensure every car meets our high standards before it reaches a customer. In this role, you take ownership of identifying and repairing damage to interior components, directly impacting the customer experience and the perceived value of each vehicle you touch. You are responsible for executing a wide range of restoration tasks with precision, ensuring that every vehicle you work on leaves the center in flawless condition. This position requires a high level of personal accountability, as your work will be inspected before the car is sold to the next buyer. What you'll do
- Analyze interior surfaces to determine the appropriate restoration method for fabric, leather, vinyl, plastic, and upholstery.
- Evaluate dashboard, headliner, center console, seat, and stitching conditions to plan accurate repair strategies.
- Conduct precise color matching and apply specialized dyes to seamlessly blend cloth and fabric panels.
- Diagnose windshield and window damage, including cracks, scratches, stars, bullseyes, and combination breaks, to select the correct repair approach.
- Calibrate and operate vehicle equipment and tools to perform efficient repairs in a fast-paced production setting.
- Inspect and maintain required safety gear, including goggles, face shields, gloves, masks, and non-slip shoes, to ensure a secure work environment.
- Adapt work practices to perform effectively in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold, without compromising repair quality.
- Document repair processes and outcomes to support inventory tracking and quality assurance protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline workflow and meet production targets without sacrificing craftsmanship.
- Prepare restored components for final inspection, ensuring they meet visual and structural standards.
- Utilize cleaning and restoration chemicals safely and in compliance with environmental and safety guidelines.
- Troubleshoot unexpected issues that arise during the restoration process to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Support the inspection center's operational goals by maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Continuously refine technical skills to keep pace with new vehicle materials and repair technologies.
Requirements
- Bring a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in automotive interior or glass repair to demonstrate your technical capability.
- Be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid driver license to qualify for the position.
- Prove the ability to lift up to 60 pounds independently to handle heavy components and equipment.
- Show proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
- Agree to work mandatory overtime when business needs require it to meet production demands.
- Consent to pass a background check and Motor Vehicle Records check as part of the hiring process.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety protocols and personal protective equipment usage at all times.
- Exhibit reliability and punctuality to ensure smooth production line operations.
