About the role
The Cosmetic Repair Inspector role at Carvana is a critical position within our vehicle reconditioning operations. As a Cosmetic Repair Inspector, you will conduct detailed vehicle inspections to identify body and paint repair requirements before vehicles move through our reconditioning pipeline. This role requires a minimum of 6 months of professional automotive prepping experience to ensure you can handle the demands of high-quality inspections and maintain the integrity of our inspection process. You will be responsible for preparing vehicles for paint, which involves sanding, masking, taping, bagging, unbagging, and buffing surfaces to meet our stringent standards. Your attention to detail is essential to ensure every vehicle we deliver meets the expectations of our fast-growing reputation in the used automotive market.
This position is based at our Inspection Center in Tolleson, AZ, and is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments. What you'll do
As a , you will perform detailed vehicle inspections with precision and accuracy to identify body and paint repairs needed. Your responsibilities will include prepping vehicles for paint by performing thorough surface preparation tasks. You will sand vehicle surfaces to achieve the correct profile for adhesion and finish, ensuring optimal paint application. You will mask areas of the vehicle to protect non-repaired sections during reconditioning, maintaining the integrity of the original surfaces. You will also tape off panels and components to ensure clean lines and professional results.
In addition, you will bag vehicles when required to control environmental contaminants during work, and unbag or perform tear down of protective coverings once processes are complete. You will buff surfaces to restore gloss and remove minor imperfections effectively, contributing to the overall quality of the final vehicle presentation. You will support workflow by maintaining organization and cleanliness in your designated area, promoting a safe and efficient work environment. Collaboration with team members is essential to ensure seamless transitions between inspection and repair stages, aligning with our operational goals and customer expectations.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must possess a minimum of 6 months of professional automotive prepping experience. This requirement ensures you have hands-on experience working with vehicle preparation processes in a professional setting. You must demonstrate the ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols, as adherence to standards is mandatory for success in this role. You should be capable of performing repetitive motions associated with sanding, taping, and buffing without compromising quality or safety. Reliable transportation to the Tolleson, AZ location is required for consistent daily attendance, ensuring you can meet operational demands.
You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements at this time. Previous experience in a high-volume production environment is strongly preferred to meet our operational demands and maintain efficiency. A solid understanding of personal protective equipment usage and workplace safety standards is essential to perform your duties safely and effectively. This position may require mandatory overtime based on business needs to ensure we deliver exceptional customer experiences and meet vehicle delivery commitments. You must be available to work these additional hours as required by operational demands.
