About the role
This position owns the full restoration of damaged wheels from initial assessment through final delivery. You will diagnose the extent of curb rash and structural issues using precise measurement techniques. The role requires you to execute meticulous repair procedures that restore wheels to near factory condition. You will be responsible for selecting the correct finishes and coatings to match customer specifications. Every repaired wheel must meet our strict quality standards before leaving the Inspection Center. You will maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency. This position plays a critical role in the customer's first impression of Carvana's reconditioning process. Your work directly impacts the speed and accuracy of our vehicle turnover.

What you'll do
Assess incoming wheels for damage severity and determine the appropriate repair methodology.
Set up and operate dedicated wheel repair machinery to correct bends and distortions safely.
Strip existing paint and corrosion from wheel surfaces to prepare for refinishing work.
Apply specialized fillers and bonding agents to eliminate imperfections and restore structural integrity.
Use precision sanding techniques to create a smooth foundation for paint adhesion.
Mask off wheel components to ensure clean lines and professional separation of colors.
Spray base coats and accent colors using controlled techniques to achieve uniform coverage.
Apply clear-coat layers to protect the repair and provide a high-gloss finish.
Polish the finished wheel to eliminate overspray and achieve a flawless surface shine.
Conduct a final visual and tactile inspection to verify the repair meets company standards.
Package the repaired wheel securely to prevent damage during transport to the vehicle.
Document all repairs completed and log any defects that require further attention.
Collaborate with team members to ensure workflow efficiency and timely completion of jobs.
Maintain equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the machinery.
Adhere to all safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment.
Requirements
Must possess a minimum of 1 year of professional experience in wheel/rim repair.
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
Able to physically lift up to 60 pounds independently and perform repetitive motions.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment with attention to detail.
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in varying temperature conditions.
Must consistently use required personal protective equipment correctly.
Compliance with all company safety rules and inspection center procedures is mandatory.
Able to read and understand work instructions and communicate effectively in English.
Willingness to work mandatory overtime based on business demands and customer needs.
Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check if the position requires driving.
Ability to learn and follow all Carvana standard operating procedures and quality standards.
Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for this role.

This position is part of the Auto Body team, which includes roles in paint, prep, wheel repair, airbrush, interior repair, glass repair, and PDR.
