This position represents a foundational entry-level opportunity within the fast-paced environment of Carvana's vehicle reconditioning operations. As a Detailer, you will take ownership of the complete vehicle cleaning and finishing process, ensuring every car meets our exacting standards before it reaches a customer. You are responsible for meticulously detailing vehicles, which involves washing, thoroughly cleaning the interior, and buffing the exterior to a high-gloss finish. This role requires a strong commitment to quality and consistency, as you will be the final checkpoint in the visual presentation of each vehicle. You will operate within a team structure, following established procedures to maximize efficiency and throughput in a high-volume setting. Success in this position means adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment correctly at all times. Your daily work will directly impact customer satisfaction and the overall perception of the Carvana brand experience. What you'll do
- Execute a thorough vehicle cleaning process, focusing on interior vacuuming, surface wiping, and exterior washing.
- Perform detailed buffing and polishing of vehicle exteriors to remove contaminants and restore paint luster.
- Conduct a systematic inspection of both the interior and exterior to identify any residual dirt or missed spots.
- Operate specialized cleaning equipment and tools in adherence to established safety and quality protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure efficiency and compliance with housekeeping standards.
- Collaborate with inspection teams to ensure vehicles meet the necessary criteria for photographic and sales stages.
- Document any discrepancies or potential issues discovered during the cleaning process for further review.
- Contribute to achieving daily productivity targets while upholding the highest standards of vehicle presentation.
- Utilize personal protective equipment correctly to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Support the overall flow of vehicles through the reconditioning center by completing tasks in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Some positions may be subject to an Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
- Ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools - must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently.
- An ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing production environment while sometimes being exposed to excessive weather conditions (heat/cold).
- Use of safety equipment that may include but not limited to face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check as required by company policy.
- Eligibility for employment is contingent upon successful completion of any required training programs.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide documentation as required by law.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential requirements for this role.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in automotive detailing or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with automotive cleaning products and techniques.
