About the role
Cardless is seeking a Data Analyst / Senior Data Analyst to join our team and help shape the insights, processes, and decisions behind our co-branded credit card platform. In this role, you will own analytical work spanning applications, accounts, transactions, fraud, risk, rewards, and partner operations to support high-impact initiatives. You will dive deep into data, identify opportunities, streamline operational processes, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver durable improvements to our platform. The position requires you to analyze operational, product, and financial data to identify trends, diagnose issues, and surface actionable insights that directly influence business outcomes. You will build dashboards, reporting frameworks, and monitoring tools that improve visibility into system and business performance for stakeholders across the organization. You will partner with product managers, engineers, and risk/compliance teams to support the design of new features, workflows, and policies that align with strategic objectives. You will evaluate and optimize business processes across the customer lifecycle, including applications, onboarding, transactions, servicing, fraud, and rewards. The role involves performing deep-dive investigations into anomalies, system issues, or partner escalations to determine root causes and drive remediation. You will support forecasting, business reviews, and strategic planning with clear, data-driven analysis that guides decision-making at various levels. For senior candidates, the position includes providing guidance to teammates, leading medium-sized cross-functional projects, and influencing strategic decisions through data-backed recommendations.

Championing documentation and standards to improve organizational analytical rigor and ensure consistency across teams.
Leading medium-sized initiatives and guiding teammates as a senior team member to ensure successful project execution.
Translating complex analysis into clear insights for both technical and non-technical partners to facilitate informed decision-making.
Collaborating effectively with product, engineering, and operations teams to align analytics work with broader business goals.
Managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
Driving end-to-end ownership of analytical projects from problem definition through implementation and communication of results.
Evaluating data quality and advocating for improvements to documentation and pipelines that support reliable reporting.
Exploring and testing AI tools to enhance workflows, analysis, automation, and insight generation in a professional setting.
Requirements
You bring 3-7 years of experience in analytical, operations, or data-focused roles with a track record of delivering impact.
You demonstrate strong proficiency with SQL, Excel/Sheets, and Python for analysis to manipulate data and build meaningful reports.
You use AI tools professionally in a work setting for workflows, analysis, automation, or insight generation to augment productivity.
You integrate AI into day-to-day work including prompt design, model evaluation, data preparation, or workflow optimization effectively.
You handle large datasets and build reliable reporting using Looker, Tableau, Omni, Mode, or similar tools to support stakeholder needs.
You break down ambiguous problems using business KPIs and analytical frameworks independently to derive structured solutions.
You translate complex analysis into clear insights for both technical and non-technical partners to ensure alignment and understanding.
You collaborate effectively with product, engineering, or operations teams to cross-functional initiatives and shared objectives.
You manage multiple priorities and take ownership of projects, driving them end-to-end from conception to completion with accountability.
You show curiosity, attention to detail, and a passion for building well-structured analytical systems and business processes that scale.
Nice to have
Experience building or deploying internal AI tools, automations, or agents to improve productivity or business operations.
Familiarity with financial systems, reconciliation workflows, or data integrity challenges common in fintech environments.
Experience in fintech, credit, financial systems, fraud, risk, or customer lifecycle analytics to provide contextual relevance quickly.
Practical notes
This role is in office during standard business hours.
We cover all travel and lodging for team offsites and trips every two months.
Location is San Francisco, CA, with the office situated in the Mission District and Jackson Square.
