What you'll do
Lead the development of communications plans for European markets and regions
Coordinate messaging across multiple European countries and their respective time zones
Work closely with regional leadership to identify key communication priorities
Support internal and external communications campaigns across all European markets
Manage relationships with European media outlets and regional press contacts
Help shape the company narrative for European audiences and stakeholders
Collaborate with the global communications team on shared regional initiatives
Oversee the creation of tailored content for European markets and audiences
Align communications efforts with Canva's overall brand strategy and vision
Track and report on communications performance metrics across European markets
Ensure all European communications align with company values and guidelines
Facilitate internal communications to keep European teams informed and engaged
Coordinate with local teams to adapt communications for specific European countries
Develop and maintain communication guidelines and best practices for the region
Support the planning and execution of European-wide communication events and campaigns
Monitor European media coverage and provide regular updates to internal teams
Requirements
Proven experience in communications or public relations roles at a professional level
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required
Experience working across multiple European markets or countries is important
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment
Comfort with cross-functional collaboration across different teams and departments
Understanding of media relations and press engagement practices and protocols
Familiarity with digital communications channels and online platforms is valued
Degree in communications, journalism, or a related field is expected
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently
Strong organizational and time management skills are essential for this role
Experience presenting to senior leadership and executive teams regularly
Knowledge of European business culture and regional business practices
Ability to work independently and take ownership of communications projects
Strong attention to detail and quality in all written materials
Experience with crisis communications or handling sensitive topics is a plus
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
Nice to have
Experience managing a team of communications professionals is valuable
Knowledge of German language and local market dynamics is helpful
Background in technology or software companies is a plus
Previous experience at a fast growing international company is preferred
Familiarity with design or creative tools and platforms is beneficial
Understanding of data driven communications and analytics is useful
Prior experience in a B2B or enterprise communications environment is beneficial
Understanding of European regulatory environments and compliance considerations is helpful
Exposure to international PR agencies or external communication partners is beneficial
