Superintendent - Data Center/Mission Critical

About the role

You will operate as the on-site leader for mission critical and commercial data center projects under Caddell Construction, owning the full execution of field operations in alignment with project goals. You will manage the day-to-day work of crafts and subcontractors, directing activities through foremen and trade partners to maintain productivity and quality. You will partner closely with project management, engineering, quality control, and safety to ensure strict adherence to drawings, specifications, schedules, and regulatory standards. You will review plans, job budgets, and estimates to verify quantities, values, manpower needs, and delivery timelines for all construction divisions. You will drive the development and implementation of short-term look-ahead schedules, integrating them into weekly subcontractor meetings to track progress and resolve delays. You will coordinate material receiving, storage, and handling procedures at the start of each assignment to support efficient workflow. You will troubleshoot and resolve construction problems such as work interferences, rework, and productivity issues as they emerge. You will uphold a cooperative relationship with the project owner and represent Caddell Construction professionally alongside all project partners. You will perform additional assignments as directed by the project superintendent and senior project manager to support project success.

What you'll do

Works closely with project superintendent and project manager to formulate, discuss, and finalize the overall operations plan, job layout, and job schedule.

Manages daily field performance of crafts and subcontractors, delegating work through foreman and subcontractor representatives to meet objectives.

Maintains continuous communication with engineering, quality control, and safety to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and schedule requirements.

Reviews plans, specifications, job budgets, and estimates with project leadership to clarify quantities, values, manpower needs, and delivery expectations for all construction divisions.

Continuously participates in schedule development and logic reviews, preparing and executing short-term look-ahead schedules through weekly subcontractor meetings.

Assists in preparing procedures for receiving, storing, and handling materials at the project site as required for efficient operations.

Assists in resolving construction challenges related to productivity, work interfaces, sequencing, and other field constraints.

Maintains a positive working relationship with the project owner and supports a spirit of cooperation among all project partners.

Performs additional assignments as directed by supervisors to address evolving project demands and priorities.

Works in a construction environment that requires travel, full-time commitment, and the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

Operates in conditions that include confined spaces, extreme heights, and variable weather such as hot, cold, humid, and wet environments.

Adheres to all company standards while supporting the goals of cost, quality, safety, and schedule throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Must hold a high school diploma or GED certificate as minimum educational attainment.

Must possess a minimum of four years' experience in the construction industry in a foreman or assistant superintendent role.

Must demonstrate a proven track record of successfully managing Mechanical and/or Electrical scopes within the Mission Critical market segment.

Must have direct field supervision experience overseeing trades and subcontractors on active construction projects.

Must show history of effective schedule management, including development and monitoring of project timelines.

Must have experience collaborating with quality control, testing, inspections, and commissioning processes on construction projects.

Must be capable of working under challenging conditions while maintaining a strong commitment to personal and team safety.

Must hold the ability to work full-time with willingness to travel as required by project assignments.

Nice to have

Four-year degree in engineering or construction management along with four years of related experience.

Experience using scheduling tools and participating in logic-based schedule reviews.

Background in data center, mission critical, or commercial construction environments.

Practical notes

This role requires full-time engagement and may involve travel to project sites as needed.

Work involves physical demands including crawling, climbing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, standing for extended periods, lifting over 50 lbs, and working in confined or elevated conditions.
