Project Superintendent

About the role

You own the end-to-end execution of governmental projects in Montgomery, ensuring every phase aligns with contractual obligations and strategic goals. You are responsible for the timely, cost-effective placement of the entire projects contracted work in the field through hands-on leadership and meticulous oversight. You supervise sub-contractors and craft workers and ensures that work is performed efficiently, profitably, in accordance with contract documents, safely, and on schedule without exception. You supervise total construction efforts to ensure project is constructed safely in accordance with design, budget and schedule while maintaining unwavering quality standards. You interface directly with client/owner representative, AE representative, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders to resolve issues proactively and maintain alignment. You plans, coordinates and supervises onsite functions including scheduling, engineering, and material control to optimize workflow and resource use. You provides day-to-day coordination with onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, and related departments as required to support seamless operations. You supervises craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract, taking full responsibility for craft hiring, placement, and training to build a capable team. You conducts weekly subcontractor meetings to review progress, address concerns, and plan upcoming work with clarity and precision. You manages all self-performed and subcontracted work to ensure quality and schedule integrity of all work in progress while driving continuous improvement.

What you'll do

• Responsible for the timely, cost-effective placement of the entire projects contracted work in the field through strategic oversight and execution.
• Supervises sub-contractors and craft workers and ensures that work is performed efficiently, profitably, in accordance with contract documents, safely, and on schedule.
• Supervises total construction efforts to ensure project is constructed safely in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
• Interfaces with client/owner representative, AE representative, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders to resolve issues and foster collaboration.
• Plans, coordinates and supervises onsite functions including scheduling, engineering, and material control to maintain momentum and accuracy.
• Provides day-to-day coordination with onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, and related departments as required to support project needs.
• Supervises craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract, leading hiring, placement, and training initiatives.
• Conducts weekly subcontractor meetings to review progress, identify obstacles, and plan work for the coming period.
• Manages all self-performed and subcontracted work to ensure quality and schedule integrity of all work in progress.
• Responsible for weekly labor cost reporting, providing transparent and accurate data for decision-making.
• Assumes responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project at all times.
• Plans, coordinates and performs all work to ensure safety is embedded in every activity and decision on site.
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction to support broader organizational goals and project demands.
• Oversees adherence to contract documents, ensuring all work meets specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Drives continuous improvement initiatives on site, promoting best practices and lessons learned across teams.

Requirements

High School or GED and 10-15 years experience as Supervisor or Superintendent on similar projects required. Prefer - QCM, OSHA30, Four year degree in Building Science, Construction Management or Engineering. Must have the ability to crawl, climb, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, crouch, stand for longs periods of time, lift and hold in excess of 50lbs, talk, hear and occasionally sit. Must have the ability to withstand confined spaces and or/extreme heights while negotiating tasks at hand in a safe manner to themselves and/or others. Subject to hot, cold, humid and wet conditions depending on location. Must demonstrate strong leadership and good written and verbal communication skills at all times. Practical notes

Full-time engagement in Montgomery, Alabama is required, with travel potentially necessary depending on project demands. Candidates must be capable of working in a construction setting and withstanding variable conditions including confined spaces, extreme heights, and weather exposure while maintaining strict safety protocols.
