About the role

The Head of Finance will own the complete financial strategy and execution for Bunch as the company transitions from startup to scale mode. This role is accountable for designing and operating a resilient finance function that supports rapid growth while safeguarding capital. The hire will establish the financial controls, processes, and insights required to support complex fundraising, acquisitions, and long-term value creation. You will act as the primary financial strategist for the executive team, translating high-level ambitions into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. You will ensure that financial data is timely, accurate, and trusted by all stakeholders. This position requires a leader who can operate independently with deep ownership and build credibility across legal, commercial, and operational teams. You will be instrumental in shaping the financial culture and discipline that will define Bunch for years to come.

What you'll do

Lead the end-to-end ownership of the budgeting cycle, crafting both top-down and bottom-up plans in collaboration with founders, department heads, and cross-functional teams.

Design, implement, and continuously refine a robust cash forecasting model that provides clear visibility into burn rate and runway under varying scenarios.

Prepare concise, high-impact monthly and quarterly financial updates for board meetings, presenting performance against plan and responding confidently to investor inquiries.

Architect the analytical foundations expected of a Series C/D company, including unit economics, cohort analyses, and profitability modelling, while serving as the central source of truth for financial and operational KPIs.

Elevate data quality and utility across Sales, Analytics, and other teams, driving initiatives that strengthen commercial strategy with pricing analysis and informed decision-making.

Lead all financial aspects of equity rounds, managing modelling, due diligence materials, and investor responses with precision to prepare Bunch for a successful Series C.

Manage financial due diligence on acquisitions, constructing detailed M&A models, supporting target selection, and overseeing Finance's role in post-merger integration activities.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks and financial institutions to secure acquisition financing and optimize liquidity positions when required.

Own Bunch's banking relationships and treasury function, building a network of German and European banking partners while overseeing liquidity optimization and currency risk mitigation strategies.

Spearhead the implementation of an ERP system across the entire Bunch group, ensuring alignment with financial controls, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Champion the management of non-dilutive funding, including grants and other instruments, coordinating applications across multiple markets to unlock alternative capital sources.

Lead audit preparations and engagements, coordinating closely with external tax advisors and accountants to ensure compliance and drive cost efficiencies.

Set a high bar for excellence within the Finance team, focusing on process optimization, automation, and the delivery of actionable insights that directly influence growth.

Act as the primary financial liaison with external advisors, ensuring that bookkeeping, accounting, and tax relationships are managed with rigor and continuous improvement.

Translate complex financial data into clear narratives for non-finance stakeholders, enabling better strategic decisions across the organization.

Requirements

Bring a minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in an in-house finance role within a SaaS or VC-backed environment, private equity, management consultancy, or investment banking.

Possess a proven track record of leading VC-backed financing rounds beyond Series B, demonstrating comfort with investor expectations and rigorous processes.

Show experience in building robust financial models from scratch, including proficiency with multi-entity and multi-currency structures and scenarios.

Have hands-on familiarity with accounting, billing, and spend management tools such as DATEV, Stripe, Moss, and Spendesk, as well as ERP platforms like NetSuite.

Demonstrate a history of owning forecasting and budgeting cycles end-to-end, not merely providing support to other functions.

Be a hands-on builder who can do detailed work while also developing strategic perspectives as the role matures into a VP-level position.

Combine strong technical finance skills with the flexibility to serve as a strategic partner to management and a credible representative to investors and external stakeholders.

Communicate effectively by converting intricate financial information into accessible narratives for diverse audiences.

Show a high degree of proactivity and a solutions-oriented mindset, thriving in environments that demand ownership and rapid execution.

Have comfort with ambiguity and the ability to create processes and frameworks where they do not currently exist.

Be fluent in English, with strong German language skills at B2 or C1 level being highly desirable.

Possess fund industry or fintech experience that adds relevant perspective, though this is not mandatory for success in the role.

Approach new challenges with confidence, building processes and systems in situations where guidelines are limited or evolving.
