What you'll do
Perform custodial and cleaning duties in school environments to maintain high standards of hygiene and order.
Provide support in cafeteria settings as needed to ensure nutrition services run smoothly for students and staff.
Utilize the BrightBee mobile application to view, accept, and manage assignments across the West Cleveland Hive region.
Travel to multiple school sites within the specified geographical area to complete varied assignment types as requested.
Maintain reliable availability for both short-term single-day tasks and longer-term projects that may extend over several weeks or months.
Work independently with strong time management to complete tasks during shifts that may include early morning or late-day windows.
Demonstrate physical stamina by standing for extended periods and lifting equipment or supplies weighing up to 30 pounds when required.
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, reporting guidelines, and building procedures mandated by BrightBee and the host schools.
Contribute to a positive school environment by taking pride in the cleanliness and organization of shared student spaces.
Support the overall mission of helping schools succeed by ensuring facilities are ready for daily educational activities.
Complete any additional assignment-specific duties as communicated through the BrightBee platform or by site supervisors.
Remain flexible and responsive to changing priorities, including last-minute shift adjustments or urgent facility needs.
Participate in required training and orientation sessions to fully understand role expectations and operational standards.
Engage professionally with school staff, volunteers, and other contractors to maintain a collaborative work atmosphere.
Requirements
You are comfortable claiming assignments and being available for work at multiple schools within the assigned Hive area.
You possess reliable transportation that is insured and registered to travel to various school locations across West Cleveland on a regular basis.
You are dependable, consistent, and committed to showing up ready to work at the scheduled time without frequent delays.
You are comfortable performing physical labor, including prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting during your shifts.
You take personal pride in delivering clean and safe spaces that directly benefit students and school personnel.
You are willing to undergo a comprehensive background check as a condition of working around minors.
You agree to follow all safety, reporting, and code of conduct guidelines established by BrightBee and its school partners.
You understand that costs related to clearance processes, such as background checks and mandated reporter training, are your financial responsibility as an independent contractor.
Practical notes
Work 2-5 days per week with typical shifts available from 3:30-7:30p and 3:30-11:30p.
Candidates must have full day availability on at least 2 days per week to be considered for ongoing opportunities.
This engagement is structured as a 1099 independent contractor position, and specific tax documentation may apply.
Prior experience working with children or in school settings is not required, as training and support will be provided to help you succeed.
The average cost for clearance and compliance in Ohio for facilities roles is approximately $130, and candidates must cover these expenses.
Assignments may require the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and to stand for extended durations while performing custodial tasks.
