Software Engineer ERP Integrations
Job description
Software Engineer ERP Integrations at Blp Digital.
About the role
This role focuses on connecting ERP systems to BLP Digital's platform and supporting ongoing client operations. You will work with enterprise customers primarily in the DACH region and contribute to business growth through technical integration work.
Software engineers turn product ideas into working code. Engineers work in small teams, review each other's work, and ship in small batches. Most teams follow agile practices such as sprints and daily standups. Engineers also write tests, fix bugs, and improve performance. The field values clear communication as much as technical skill. Engineers spend part of every week on planning, code review, and debugging, not just writing new code. The ability to explain a technical decision in plain words separates strong engineers from the rest.
Key facts
What you'll do
Interfaces are designed and implemented for REST, SOAP, and direct database access as well as file transfers to connect ERP systems.
Incoming EDI and e-invoice formats are translated and mapped to platform standards so that data aligns with system requirements.
New ERP systems are explored to determine optimal communication methods and enable future integration opportunities.
Standard APIs are developed and executed using Go and Java to support integration workflows.
Documentation is produced for new interfaces and features to support maintenance and future development.
Existing customer interfaces are maintained and updated to ensure continued operation and stakeholder satisfaction.
Cross-functional collaboration with the Project Team and client stakeholders enables seamless ERP integration and supports adoption.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
At least 3 years of experience in a technical role, ideally linked to integrations and/or ERP systems, is required.
Professional experience in a client-facing role is preferred.
Proficiency in English is required, with proficiency in German preferred due to the primary customer region.
Experience with Go, Java, REST/SOAP, and SQL is required.
A structured and self-reliant working approach is required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
Practical notes
Typical interview steps
Hiring for engineering roles usually starts with a recruiter screen, followed by one or two technical rounds. Candidates often solve a coding problem, discuss past projects, and answer system design questions. Some loops include a take-home task. Final rounds typically cover team fit and give candidates a chance to ask questions. Interviewers look for how you break down an unfamiliar problem, not just whether you reach the answer. Practicing a few problems aloud and reviewing your own past projects are the best preparation.
Good to know
Roles in enterprise automation commonly involve integration with finance, procurement, logistics, and sales systems.
Agentic AI and automation platforms often rely on REST, SOAP, and database protocols for system connectivity.
ERP environments in the DACH region typically require German language capability for direct stakeholder interaction.
Questions to ask
Worth asking in any interview: how the team measures success, who the role works with daily, what the onboarding looks like, and what the company is trying to achieve this year. Asking what past hires did well is a strong final question. Keep the list short and pick the questions that matter most to you.
Career growth
Engineering careers usually progress from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels. Some engineers move into management and lead teams of five to twenty people. Others stay on the technical track. Growth follows demonstrated impact, not tenure alone. A typical engineering ladder has clear levels with defined expectations for scope, quality, and mentorship. Moving up usually requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tickets.
