Strategic Value Engineer
Job description
Strategic Value Engineer at Blp Digital.
About the role
The Strategic Value Engineer (Presales) at Blp Digital is responsible for owning the technical and commercial narrative that wins enterprise ERP automation decisions at the highest level. You will reframe customer problems, quantify the cost of inaction, and prove value through tailored workshops and high-impact demonstrations. Partnering closely with an AE, you will own end-to-end technical leadership, value articulation, and de-risking concerns related to security, integration, and compliance across complex buying committees. This role demands insight-led selling that challenges the customer's initial assumptions and introduces a sharper point of view on where value is trapped. You will lead discovery across CFO, CIO, Shared Services, and Procurement to uncover operational bottlenecks and decision friction, translating these insights into a crisp target-state narrative and a clear mutual action plan. Success in this position is measured by your ability to architect the solution story, secure stakeholder alignment, and position Blp Digital as the only end-to-end, exceptions-first partner worthy of enterprise scale.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Practice insight selling by challenging the customer's initial framing, introducing a sharper point of view on where value is actually trapped in exceptions, approvals, master data, and controls, and reframing urgency using cost-of-inaction.
- Lead discovery across CFO, CIO, Shared Services, and Procurement to uncover operational bottlenecks and decision friction, translating findings into a clear target-state narrative and mutual action plan.
- Architect a tailored solution by defining scope, rollout approach, integration pattern, security posture, and measurable success criteria aligned with enterprise realities.
- Run deep dives with IT and security teams while articulating how Blp Digital operates in complex enterprise environments, including ERP digital twin concepts, data synchronization, governance, and controls.
- Deliver high-impact demos that map precisely to customer workflows in P2P, AP, and S2P, proving tangible outcomes rather than isolated features.
- Facilitate workshops that transform stakeholder skepticism into a tangible blueprint and path to value, using structured narrative and clear decision logic.
- Build a credible value narrative centered on labor productivity gains, cycle time reduction, compliance and control improvements, and stack simplification, with quantified ranges and realistic assumptions.
- Support champions and the AE with executive-ready business-case inputs, impact ranges, and rollout economics that withstand rigorous committee scrutiny.
- Position Blp Digital against point tools and fragmented stacks by championing an end-to-end, exceptions-first narrative that highlights operational risk and ERP program success requirements.
- Help the deal team land a clear "why now" anchored in operational risk, ERP transformation program health, and enterprise scale requirements.
Requirements
- 3-8+ years in Value Engineering / Presales / Solution Consulting / ERP process consulting (or equivalent in finance/procurement operations with strong customer-facing chops).
- Demonstrated ability to run insight-based discovery in a Challenger-style manner: you can respectfully push back, quantify impact, and build conviction across a buying committee.
- Comfort engaging with senior stakeholders including CFO, CIO, and Head of Shared Services: you can lead without formal authority and maintain credibility in complex matrixed environments.
- Strong workshop facilitation and demo craft, with mastery of story, structure, and objection handling under pressure.
- Ability to connect technical realities to business outcomes such as FTE capacity, cycle time, controls, compliance risk, and total cost of ownership.
- Proven experience selling into large, complex buying committees where multiple stakeholders with differing priorities must be aligned.
- Comfortable working with security, legal, and procurement teams to address governance, data protection, and integration concerns.
- Fluent in English and another major European language, preferably German, depending on the target territory.
Nice to have
- SAP exposure (S/4, ECC, Public or Private Cloud) or experience in multi-ERP environments.
- Finance or process knowledge in AP, invoice processing, S2P/P2P flows, exception handling, approvals, master data workflows, and related controls.
- Experience competing against legacy vendors and fragmented point solutions such as OCR, IDP, workflow, process mining, and RPA tools.
