What you'll do
- Oversee the entire logistics process, from procurement to distribution, ensuring timely delivery of materials and products.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to schedule shipments and manage inventory levels, ensuring that stock is maintained at optimal levels.
- Develop and maintain relationships with transportation providers to secure the best rates and service levels for our logistics needs.
- Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for all shipments, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, and inventory records.
- Collaborate with internal departments, such as production and sales, to align logistics strategies with overall business objectives.
- Implement and manage inventory control systems to track stock levels, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
- Assist in the development of logistics budgets and forecasts, providing input on cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Conduct regular audits of logistics operations to ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Provide training and support to team members on logistics best practices and software tools.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in logistics technology to enhance operational capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any logistics-related issues that may arise, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics coordination or a similar role, preferably within the mechanical or manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes and logistics management principles.
- Proficiency in logistics software and tools, such as ERP systems and inventory management software.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical skills, with the capability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with customs regulations and international shipping procedures is a plus.
Nice to have
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CLTD) is advantageous.
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve logistics processes.
- Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Previous experience in a mechanical or engineering environment.
