About the role
As an IT & Security Administrator at Bitso, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our digital assets and ensuring the integrity of our IT infrastructure. This position requires a proactive approach to security management, where you will implement and maintain security protocols while supporting the overall IT operations. Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and manage security measures to protect Bitso's information systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Monitor network traffic for unusual activity, responding to security incidents in a timely manner to minimize potential damage.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address weaknesses in the IT infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce IT policies and procedures that align with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and training to staff on security protocols and best practices to foster a culture of security awareness.
- Maintain and update documentation related to IT systems, security policies, and incident response plans to ensure clarity and compliance.
- Manage access controls and user permissions across various systems, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access to sensitive data.
- Stay informed about the latest security threats and trends, continuously updating security measures to counteract emerging risks.
- Assist in the development and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience.
- Work closely with third-party vendors to assess their security practices and ensure they meet Bitso's security standards.
- Participate in incident response planning and execution, including post-incident analysis and reporting to improve future responses.
- Contribute to the overall IT strategy by providing insights on security technologies and solutions that can enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in IT security or a related role, with a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles.
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and standards, such as ISO 27001, GDPR, or PCI-DSS.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex security issues and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with incident response and vulnerability management processes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.

- Experience in the cryptocurrency or fintech industry, with an understanding of the unique security challenges in this domain.
- Knowledge of cloud security practices and experience with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure).
